I love the Great Value Organic Coconut Flour. It's great for all of my baking needs and recipes. I use it to make cakes, breads, and many other desserts. I also use it in place of regular flour for frying foods. I love that it's paleo friendly as well as gluten free. It's a great alternative to regular wheat flour with only 60 calories per serving and adds a rich texture to your baked goods. The Great Value Organic Coconut Flour is high in fiber and low in digestible carbohydrates.
I was asked to review this product and when it arrived I started thinking of what I can make with coconut flour. Growing up in the Caribbean household this wasn't a hard task. Coconut is one of my favorite flavors so the possibilities were endless.. I decided to make two of my childhood favorites which was coconut buns and Caribbean sweet bread both but have a very distinct coconut flavor. I Googled coconut flour before I begin baking. Many people said that it was a bit dense and needed to increase the amount of liquid used in recipes. As many Caribbean baked goods thicker and more dense then traditional pastries and baked goods I thought this would be perfect. I baked as normal and they came out very well no substitutions needed. I decided to try it and other recipes. I googled recipes for coconut flour I found everything from chocolate chip cookies to bread to cake. There was several recipes to choose from. a lot of the recipes a lot of the recipes called for separating egg yolks and egg whites increasing or decreasing the amount of milk or liquid in the recipe. Baking is not my favorite thing to do so the additional steps scared me a bit but I decided to go with chocolate chip cookies. They did require a bit more liquid I'm not an overwhelming amount and they didn't taste bad at all. To my surprise coconut flavor didn't overwhelmed the other ingredients. It is a healthy alternative to traditional flour. I would definitely purchase again.
Comes in a great big bag, ziplock closure which makes it easy to use and then store. Organize takes the worry out of what you are putting in your recipes. Nice and lightweight flour. Cooks up well. Will definitely be using this flour more often!
The Great Value Organic Coconut flour is a great substitute for regular flour if you are on a gluten free diet. Works wonderful for any recipe that calls for flour. Love that it's organic. It tastes great and bakes wonderfully. I would definitely recommend to others.
I've been doing keto and the one thing I still miss is pizza. I have tried a few different recipes and just can't seem to enjoy them. This one has been my favorite so far! And there is only 16 carbs in the ENTIRE pizza dough recipe. There are so many other recipes I haven't had the chance to try yet and a little with this really goes a long way. I think I used 1/4 cup and ended up being able to make an entire pizza with it, so you end up getting more usage from it than other options available. I will definitely be purchasing again and again!
Coconut Flour! I have never used coconut flour before but this Great Value Organic Coconut Flour goes a long way if you are looking for a healthier or gluten-free way to start making your favorite recipes. The only downside is you must factor in how much coconut flour you use, substitute 20% of what you would use for wheat flour, add two to three eggs and extra liquid! Okay, so honestly, my time is valuable and I really don't have a bunch of time to figure out how much I should use plus adding all the extra ingredients. However, this is definitely a healthier choice if you are looking to avoid the regular stuff and being conscience of what you eat, organically and what is good for you. The resealable package makes it a breeze to keep it fresh and the flour is light and airy which is refreshing. I found it to be a useful new tool in my kitchen to make anything I usually make with flour, such as cookies, cakes, pancakes, waffles, and so on!
I decided to modify a chocolate chip cookie receipe and substitute regular flour with the coconut flour. I've been doing a somewhat Keto/Low Carb diet lately and was curious how it would turn out. When you first open the package(which is resealable) you notice the consistency which is very light and fine. I did add almond flour to thicken it a bit and reduced the sugar by half. It baked in the same amount of time as regular flour cookies however they were huge! Not a bad thing. No one knew they were "modified" cookies as the taste was superb. I look forward to trying other recipes and using the organic coconut flour as a replacement. Superior quality, I would recommend for anyone who wants to make treats more healthy.
I received the Great Value Organic Coconut Flour from Spark Reviewer in exchange for my honest opinion I've never used coconut flour before so this was my first time using it. I decided to use it on some chicken strips and fried them. The flour has a different consistency from regular flour. It is very fine. It is not ideal for frying because it burns easily. I love the sweet flavor of the batter. For my first time, it's really good. I am going to try baking with it.
