Over the years I've learned you get what you pay for. You pay a little premium for an Alienware machine but wow it's so worth it. I recently bought a Samsung and it was frustrating as 'heck' to get a multi-display set up correctly with it. Configuring the new windows 8.1 was incredibly time consuming and 9 out 10 time when the computer reboots due to updates I get to spend the next 2-6 hours trouble shooting why my monitors don't work and so on. The last straw was when it did an automatic updated and gave me the blue screen of death. I had enough and pulled the trigger on my dream machine (laptop) and this thing is amazing. Windows 8.1 was configured correctly right from start up to desktop, Boyah! I plugged in my dual dell monitors and what do you know, it work right away, it was actual plug and play. This beast is amazing, its crazy fast and I never had a computer boot up Photoshop so quickly. I'm playing SWTOR and Neverwinter and the graphics and frame rate are stunning. Due to my past computer issues I got the 1 year Alienware support. I did have to use it once. Nvida released a hardware driver and it really messed up my 3 screen monitor setup. No mater what I did I couldn't get monitor output (2) to work, no mater what combination I set it up as. I called support and got through in under 2 min. The rep walked me through the respawn feature (I think that's what it's called) and rolled my software back 2 days before the installing of the updated drivers and it fixed the issue right away. And I didn't lose any files. You will always have some type of issues or bugs but Like I said earlier you get what you pay for and I couldn't be happier with the Alienware's software, hardware and support. I will only buy Alienaware hardware from now on, I'm converted. My only regret is I didn't do it sooner.
Hey guy I just bought my new M17x. I use it for gaming, music edition and production and I have to tell that this machine worth every cent i paid as my old M15x, lien laptop hasn't disappoint this time and before. This machine is really fast and strong i recommend this laptop to anyone that want a very fast and needs power to any kind of stuff. In the other side the look is amazig, every people whose see it stay amazed. The keyboard is soft and nice, alien fx really cool.
I am in love with this pc everyone talks about its only lights...im sorry you cant afford it but its rather much more than the command center and flashy lights although thats just alienwares trademark it wouldnt be a alienware without the command center.its a gaming power house i play everything on max setting no lag on anything while watching a movie on oneother led tv.all this power this pc has in unreal all i have to say is great job alienware i love the new look!!!
Let me start by saying that I've owned many laptops. Off the top of my head: Toshiba Satellite Pro4600 Toshiba Satellite 6100 Acer AspireOne netbook HP Compaq Elite Workstation (don't remember the model) HP Dv6 quad HP Dv7 quad ...and at least three more that I can't think of off the top of my head. This is my first Alienware...and I'm more than a little impressed. I've got fairly specific needs...like two hard drives...that limit my options to only a few choices. Compared to my last two i7 laptops (HP Dv6/7 quads) this laptop blows them away in build quality. It was a relief to get a laptop that I didn't have to re-install windows to get rid of all the bloatware installed. The only software that is preinstalled are the Alienware utilities (Respawn, FX Editor and Adrenaline). Respawn is a backup utility, FX editor lets you control/customize all the lighting zones) and Adrenaline is for over-clocking. The one I chose had the Radeon R9-m290x, Intel i7-4700, 16gb ram and Blu-ray player. I replaced the hard drive with a Samsung Pro 512GB SSD and added a 1TB-7200rpm HDD. It currently gets 7.9 in all Windows Experience scores (Win 7/64 Pro) except the processor (which gets a 7.6). I use the laptop for work and for gaming. At work I use this laptop with a Seiki 4k - 39" monitor and the laptop has no problem extending the desktop to the extra 3840x2160 monitor. I could not be happier with the decision to give Alienware a shot. Historically laptops normally last me about 2 years...I imagine this laptop will easily last me 3-4 years if not longer. The only cons I can think of are the price and the weight. It is expensive, but I think you get what you pay for. And it is heavy.
This machine is absolutely gorgeous. I was excited to turn it on for the first time and just fell in love my new Alienware. The Alienware 17 has a premium feel and has powerful performance to go with it. This product makes me feel proud and I look forward to all my gaming endeavors. I recommend this product to anyone who loves to play games on a PC. Forget the consoles.
Ever since I first saw an Alienware on the internet, I've always wanted one. It came in the mail a couple weeks ago and I can definitely say that it's lived up to my expectations <3 A few things though! Since it's black, you can see dust on it really easily (I saw it after only a day) and there's the thing where you can't set the glow colour of any of the lights to white (apparently you could on older models) The computer itself doesn't seem to heat up at all, and it's lighter than I expected. The charging adaptor thing does get warm, though. The screen isn't shiny at all. There are no reflections or glares, I love it. The display is beautiful, it's extremely fast. THE SOUND IS AMAZING. It honestly sounds like surround sound whenever I have the volume on. Customer service was really nice when I was buying the laptop, too :) Really helpful. I posted a few pictures of my new laptop and people were just amazed at how nice it is. Everyone that's seen it in reality is even more amazed. 1 person I knew who wasn't a big fan of Alienware actually purchased one within a couple days of seeing mine. And other people who have seen it are definitely wanting one now as well. Oh! And shipping was extremely fast! Shipped one week earlier than the expected date, and it only took ONE day after the email that it was sent out to ship. (And I live in Canada, so that is *fast). Thanks so much Dell <3 Very nice laptop.
Incredible is the best laptop I have had till date. I hope for a few years here could say the same.
I have used the M17 for several months now and have been happy with the quality of construction and performance of the computer. It is mostly a nice step up from my older M17 R2 (slightly fewer pixels on the screen). I trivially installed some extra SSD hard drives. I would have liked to have a removable battery pack for when I travel. The video interfaces work great (I had some issues with the R2) and the usb3 ports are excellent. I took the leap with windows8 for this machine and I have not regretted it one bit - it works great with the hardware. Because I use this machine to develop on, I do wish the nvidia drivers were updated more often.
The laptop has been very good overall, although the GTX 580 in mine failed and was replaced but unfortunately failed again shortly after. Dell did make it right by sending me a brand new laptop with higher specs without charging me anything extra. The replacement laptop did take a month to arrive but I was happy that it had better parts than the original one.
I bought this laptop from my Daughter about 2 week ago cause she following in my foot steps, I bought a alienware laptop about 4 years and ago and won the Frycry 2 global championship on there laptop and won a gamming desks top from Intel and ubisoft and was on there web site as the global champion, I'm not pleased with this system I got for my daughter after 2 weeks it stop working cause of the hardware, I'm sending this Unit back to be replaced for a new one and hoping there won't be anymore issues, People like me is what gives your company a good name on your alienware computers and hoping that you will get my new computer back to me Asap
