Great Computer

I am very glad my parents got me this computer. It was everything I expected it to be. It was definately worth the money we payed for it. I was scared that the touchpad, mouse, and/or keys would be unconfortable, but they ended being perfect. I have Windows 7 on my computer and it is great. Overall, this is the best computer I have ever used or probably ever will use.

I like nearly everything about this laptop, and rationalize the things I don't like. This machine is fast. It turns on fast, loads programs and pages fast, and plays videos very well. I like the keyboard and the soft-touch surfaces. I miss the beauty of the glossy screen on my old laptop, but I don't a problem with glare now. I have a few extra steps to go through to get my 16-bit software up and running, but 64-bit lets me have 16GB of memory. I'm not as impressed by the sound. I don't like the internal speakers. I was confused which jack to use for my external speakers and what selections to make on the pop-up audio screens (I had to use the headset jack and select front speakers to get my 3.1 speakers to work), but the sound is now better than I remember with my old laptop. I'll be using this machine for software development and for social browsing, but I'm an impatient user and wanted a no-nonsense machine. My last laptop had a problem with cooling. I expect that won't be an issue with this Alienware.

I wasn't too sure what I was going to get when I ordered, not 1, but 2 of the Alienware 14 systems (as my wife wanted a new computer because I was getting one). The idea of the 14 inch screen had kind of put me off at first. After i recieved the computers, the first thing i noticed was how carefully and well packed the system was in the box. I was thoroughly impressed with the level of concern that was obviously put into the packaging. Once I had unpacked the system, it started up fast, the display looked fantastic for a 14 inch screen. Playing with my system further, this being my first Alienware, I discovered AlienFX, and was able to completely customize the look of my system, which i've never been able to do before. After inspecting the bottom of the computer, the personalization and "deployed on" date was a nice touch. I've had my system for about 4 months now, and other then a graphic driver glitch that was more my fault then anything, the system has been stable. For the amount of power that this computer is putting out, it has to also be one of the coolest laptops i've ever owned. I also read a few reviews that said that the Intel i7 processor that is used in the system I bought can only be put into a 15" system or bigger, and Alienware did it with a 14. Through and through, solid system, tons of features, everything you could possibly want and more, and would definately recommend to anyone who was looking for a serious computer. I will only be buying Alienware for my computers from now on. Great job, keep it up!

This laptop is absolutely amazing. I got this laptop about 3 months ago and its been perfect. It came in less then 3 buisness days after ordering, and its been a star. Im yet to find a game it cannot run smoothly on maximum graphics settings. Games like GuildWars2 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim run smoothly on maximum settings with no lag or delay. The laptop is near silent and stays very very cool, producing next to no heat, it stays stone cold after hours of use, and the noise of the fans is near undetectable. Im also extremely pleased with the fact this system can have Windows7, considering so few manafacturers use it now.

This laptop holds its own. It scores up near hardcore gaming Desktop platforms on 3DMark and my gaming has been extremly and utterly astonishing. The 14 is by far my most favorite gaming laptop. It even outperforms my ASUS ROG G55VW. Same speed processor, but its a 3rd gen I7 with 8 gb DDR3 ram and an NVIDIA GTX660m and this laptop shoots my ASUS out of the water. I like the look and feel of the new alienwares, I am impressed 110% by my experience as a whole with my product.

First off, I have very few qualms about the performance of my Alienware 14. It is well put together and performs beautifully, as well it should. The look is fantastic and the customizability addicting; however, out of the box upon delivery and messing with the LED's through Command Center, I noticed a relatively egregious oversight. When cycling through the colors, it was hard not to note that some of the diodes were either not functioning correctly or out entirely, causing a bleed effect. For instance, when looking at a yellow trackpad, there is much leakage of green from the left side, yet when it is blue, the color is solid and correct. It pains me to see that a machine such as this one was clearly run through tests before it arrived, and yet there was a failure to test all of the LED's for quality, especially considering the company is based close to me in Round Rock. That being said, I am still happy with the machine itself, casting aside the LED oversight.

My 14 has been nothing but perfect since I bought it. I recently owned a Sager with a i7-2670 Quad and a GTX560 and that got me 15K marks on 3DMark06...I ran that benchmark on the 14 and it netted 20K marks. My 14 has the i7-4700 and the GT750. Also I'm getting 130fps on Dirt 3 on High settings. So we know it's got the horsepower. The build quality is exemplary and the laptop is solid, like my M14x was. No flex in the lid or anywhere else. The keyboard is nice and responsive and comfy to use with no flex. All in all I'm very happy and am saving as we speak for the 18 ;)

Great computer with a really solid build. The computer feels like it is built like a tank. Not to mention it look really neat. It runs great and plays everything on max settings, And for the size, that is pretty impressive. I was not expecting something size to be able to play demanding games as well as some desktops. The AlienFX that flash along with the games is a cool feature that makes the experience a little bit cooler. The way I see it is, companies will continue to make better graphics and better graphics card. And that's cool and all but it's only one factor to the experience of PC gaming. What the Alienware 14 does is takes that experience to a new level with the FX. It's cool and it runs really well.

I WAS skeptical....until i had my hands on this machine. I was worried i wouldn't like the new keyboard, or the new anti-glare screen. But after hours of gaming, i'm in love. The keys have a great feel and I cant get enough of the screen. No glare but still all the bright colors and sharpness. You will not be disappointed. All the games iv played have just been destroyed by the 2GB video card. The battery is what you would expect, 2-4 hours depending on the game/settings. With no games i'm sure you could add an hour or two. Heat hasn't been an issue but it is there. I don't have temps but i have gamed for extended periods with the laptop in my lap and didn't get too hot, just warm. My only complaint is the WiFi isn't great, this may be updated but for now its an average connection even a few feet from the router. But in all, that's all I can complain about. As an example, When my other devices are 5 bars, this beauty is around 3, maybe 4. Hope i helped someone, I was a nervous buyer.

Better check the forums 1st about the features on this unit before buying.. Dota 2 not smooth, sc2 if put to high settings, its a mess. Other features were excellent I have to admit that, but about gaming? im not sure... I buy this coz I want to enjoy my gaming experience but it turns out a different way, so disappointed.
