A very entertaining romantic comedy with something for the guys, this outdoorsy romp about a fishing expert who can't fish and the woman who helps him maintain his reputation is very much like the Rock Hudson - Doris Day comedies of a few years earlier. Directed by superdirector Howard Hawks and with Paula Prentiss providing the love interest, this is an excellent choice for anyone who likes a mixture of wit, slapstick, and romance in a movie with excellent production values and color used the way it was meant to be used.

"Man's Favorite Sport" is a fun, uncomplicated, and wholesome movie. The storyline is typical of Rock Hudson movies: He sells fishing equipment at a department store and writes a "how-to" book based on the fishing stories he's heard. Then he's told by his boss to compete in a fishing tournament, where his secret is revealed: he has never fished in his life. There is no intrigue or suspense, just a sweet story that will make you smile throughout the entire movie.
