This rug was better than I expected. It has a non-slip backing and is truly non-slip; it's been 15 month old & 3 year old boy tested so we know of which we speak! We purchased it to put under the boy's Safety 1st folding table and chairs in an effort to catch crumbs & spills for easy clean-up instead of food getting tracked through the house. The design with the smiling fruit is very bright, fun & educational too since you can work on colors & fruits while eating. The pile on the rug is a very short & thick pile which is exactly what we were looking for. The 15 month old is determined to feed himself yogurt and some ended up on the rug-where it just sat ON TOP of the pile! Not one bit weeped into the weave of the pile. With a quick swipe of washcloth it was all gone with no residue or stain left behind. I would definitely recommend this rug.
