Yep! Oregon. This movie was partially shot in historic Jacksonville, Oregon in 1972. While the paved streets were covered in soil for the bank raid, Robertson (as Cole Younger) picked not only a great place to film, but a most interesting subject and filled with a great cast of characters - and you won't soon forget Robert Duvall as a maniacal Jesse James. The story is gritty with some wit and some downright criminal acts as only the James and Youngers could commit. And watch for lots of Oregon rain and mud. Don't let the 1972 date stop you from buying this one, it's one of a kind about the infamous gang and their equally infamous raid, and give a lie or two with Hollywood license it's still really entertaining. The PG rating is for "1972 type" violence and a quick nude scene near the beginning. Keep these in mind for the kids.
This movie is interesting because it gives a different view and fills in some of the gaps of various Jesse James and his pals/gang movies.
Wow....here I was looking at other websites for this movie and nearly purchased it from one when I took a chance and found it here. And at a great price!! Hubby is a history buff and enjoyed the movie. Thank you!!
Cole Younger and Frank James after being released from prison wrote books which included this attempted bank robbery. Several scenes from this movie were verified by them. Other scenes were just plain silly and did not occur. Suggest view take a look at "The Long Riders"- also about the Northfield robbery. This movie is unique in that it used actual brothers to play the parts of brothers in the movie.
