My husband wears both the shirt and pants. True to size, wash and dry very well, wear extremely well and do not itch due to the wool blend. We were so happy to find them online as the store we always purchase them in stopped carrying them, big mistake.
My husband and I have used Original Duofold Wool-blend for years and LOVE them. Soft cotton on the inside, never a scratchy feel. Warm wool-blend on the outer layer that really works to keep off the chill. And, with two layers, amazingly not bulky at all. Fits under pants with no problem and the tops, likewise, slip under other layers for smooth fit. I've worn these in snowstorms of Maine, in winter freeze of BC, and at home in mild California temps. Wash well, wear well. I still have a pair of bottoms from 30 years ago. Great product. Watch out for the newer Duofolds, they are not the original cotton inner and wool-blend outer.
I can't speak to how these perform in strenuous peak exercise or extreme conditions, but for average use in average winter conditions, there is nothing more warm, comfortable, well-cut, and long-lasting than these duofold pants and tops. The two layers are amazing together. They make a great gift.
I'm so glad this product is still made.. I have been using this for various winter outdoor activities for 20+ years and the comfort, warmth and durability easily outmatches the more recent and more popular materials on the market. I wish it was still made into more than basewear .. It used to be made into Henley shirts, nightgowns etc..Go for the the wool-cotton blend. Only the full merino wool can beat it - but at a significant price jump
Boxes that items were delivered in were destroyed, but the under ware was not damaged. Boxes are a good way to advertise product. Were a gift for grandson and removed the items from the destroyed boxes and wrapped them in a gift box. I have purchased Duo-Fold before and there is no better product on the market.
we live in AR and are having a wet, windy, cold winter. The new duofolds are not as thick, thus, not as warm as my husband's old ones. He said they are fine for our usual winter days: upper 30s to mid 40s, light wind, occasional rain. They wash and dry well.
Bought a small, I'm a 30x30 pant size, should have gone medium. The diameter of the legs is perfect but they look like high-waters when I stand. I don't mind though, snowboard socks go way above the bottom any who. Seems like quality made so far. Peace and love people
Purchased size XL. For some reason the new manufacturer of Duofold changed the length of XL. I have 2 older Original Duofold and they are much better quality. Why would they assume all bigger people are SHORT. The pair I received are the same XL around the waist compared to Original Duofold but the length is about 3-4 inches shorter. A little disappointed with this. Not sure if I received a defective pair or not. If you are a tall person say 5'10 to 6' expect them to fit about 2-3 inches above your ankle. Other than that, they are soft and warm.
I've been buying DuoFold Original Thermals for many years. I bought two pairs for my wife last year. Up until now, never had a problem. My recent purchase, not so happy. Put them in the wash and they shrank in length by 6 inches. To me that is unacceptable. Sorry but we probably won't be buying anything else any time soon.
I have been buying Duofold pants and tops for at least 15 years. The original "Originals" came in two weights -- heavyweight (which was only available for men) and midweight (which was only available for women). The heavyweight had 65% wool in the outer layer and the midweight had 25% wool in the outer layer. When I moved to Montana, I had to get the heavyweight version, even though it was made for men. Then, around 5 years ago, there was a change in the elastic being used for the waistband in the pants and it didn't hold up through a normal wash cycle anymore. (I used warm water for the wash and medium heat for the dryer). I still have one pair of pants that's at least 12 years old and the elastic is still fine, so this was the first step toward lower quality by substituting inferior materials as a cost-cutting measure. NOW the product being called "Originals" only has 25% wool in the outer layer. I had to buy some new pants and got the men's version again. These are so thin that I have to wear two pair at the same time to get any kind of warmth from them. They are not much heavier than my cotton leggings, and aren't even as heavy as the old midweight ones I used to get. I realize that many products are shaving costs(and quality) in order to keep prices down, but this has gone too far. These are NOT the Duofold "Originals" anymore and if I had an alternative to them (none of the other options have a good fit, according to online reviews), I would not buy them anymore. PLEASE -- bring back the old "heavyweight" version and use a good elastic for the waistband!!!! Even if you have to charge more for them, at least they would be worth buying! These that I just got are NOT!
