I must admit i was skeptical of this product beliving the best way to go is an internal wireless card but after just plugging it in to the USB port & running the software CD & seeing how easy it was & the great download speed of 21,488 kbps , with no loss at all over a 75 Ft distance , all i can say is Im impressed.
We have a fairly big home with a lot of Wireless dead spots. Belkin's equivelant equipment could not penetrate the dead spots in our home. It would have been more expensive to hard wire our home to reach these areas. I read Consumer Report's reviews on this item and the recommended Router WNR834B, and purchased both items from Wal-Mart. What an amazing difference. The range and speeds are consistently awesome. The speed exceeds my Comcast Cable Internet Hard Wire speeds, if you can beleive that. Continually operates at 154mbps at minimum and increases to 270mbps at times. This item is worth every penny.
my stepson uses this item in the basement i conjunction with our wireless router and he does programming, gaming, and browsing the net without any problems. it is a very good product.
I bought this product so I could play World of Warcraft wirelessly upstairs, literally at the opposite corner of the house. I expected to have a noticeable latency issue in game, but really Its about the same as being hardwired. This is truly a great product. I imagine the wireless Router also makes a difference on the performance of this, and I have it paired with the Netgear Open Source Wireless-G Router and it works pretty good. I bought a new Wireless N router, supposably much more powerful than the Wireless-G...definitely was about half as effective. Just a tip for those who have this in mind for gaming.
Best Netgear Rangemax Adapter Yet
It works great. setting it up was a hassel because it wasn't designed for windows 7. Once it was though everything ran smoothly.
The WN111 RangeMax Next Wireless-N USB Adapter work well allowing me to connect my desktop to a wireless network. I was not able to get my laptop and desktop to see each other on the network however. This defeated my reason for getting the wireless adapter and left me a little disappointed.
This really is a good product, it is the included software that leaves much to be desired.
Worked great for a couple years, got a new computer and it isn't compatible with Windows 7. Checked the website and they do not have driver updates for this particular adapter (but for every other version they make) So now I am forced to buy a new adapter.
Has good range, and is able to connect at 300mbits with perfect signal around 30 ft. The problem is that despite the good signal strength this device is unable to transfer data above 5mbits/s. I test using several online speed test sites. I tested this with several computers with the same results. I have a 50mbit connection at home and I am able to achieve these speed with other wireless devices. Time to lay some cat5.
