my husband loves his oil catcher container. He had a plastic oil pan, every time he had to change oil he had this big bulky thing to try and pour into the oil bottle. spills would happen. So when I found this, it was a no brainers. Best Oil Pan around. you open a small valve on the draining side, place under the vehicle, catch the oil in the recessed area, leave it so that it all drains into the canister. we use a paper towel to move the little bit of oil that stays on surface. we push it to the valve. close wipe it, and stand up the container. it can then be transferred easily to the original oil container for disposable. Best Ever!!!! I recommend for anyone
THIS OIL PAN IS AWESOME! IT'S WIDE ENOUGH TO CATCH THE OIL STREAM WITHOUT OIL DRIPPING ON THE FLOOR. I DID DRILL TWO HOLES (see pictures ) IN THE OIL PAN TO MAKE THE OIL DRAIN INTO THE PAN FASTER. IF YOU HANDLE THE PAN WITH CARE AND DONT OVER TIGHTEN THE OIL CAP THIS OIL PAN WILL SERVE YOU FOR A LONG TIME.
Bought this container for my 97 f250 7.3 diesel. It takes 15qt of oil to do a change. I drained the oil pan and filter into the container and it filled it to the "fill hole" almost overflowing out of that hole so it was full to the brim. The catch area doesn't have quite enough angle to drain the slow moving oil into the container without a little assistance brushing oil into the hole. But it does a great job for $10, it's sitting in the garage with 14+ qt in it right now.
There is no seal at the bottom joint, which will cause oil leakage.
If you get this you're going to need a drill to fix the main drain hole. All I had under the red drain cap in the recessed area were two drill holes made with a really dull bit. In case you have a vehicle that has a lot of oil it will overwhelm the recessed area before it drains into the container. This makes no sense since it is high capacity. Also drain cap has no gaskets, so it leaks from same drain port when full and placed upright; when full it must be stored flat.
Mine was missing the red cap where the drain is....
Large size, large capacity, but... seam on bottom when upright/back when catching oil is open. I wish I had checked but you expect items correctly assembled in store. This is why so much is made on China, USA quality is not up to China anymore for an inexpensive item like this.
I ordered this product 11 days ago and still have not received it. I
Shipped without a box, shipping sticker just stuck to the side of the plastic container. It arrived without the red caps that would/should hold the oil inside. Useless without the caps, had to return it. Not sure why they would ship it without a box and expect the twist off caps to stay with it. It does hold three gallons, however the fill holes (there are two of them under the red cap on the side in the bottom of the pan) are undersized and even water will easily overflow the container if you pour it to fast. The fill holes need to be enlarged (something you can easily do but why should you have to?). I think if I had put this under my truck without testing, I would of had a big oily mess.
came without the drain plug. they had to reorder it and it will now be delivered when i am not at home. They would not let me return it to a store even though all of the stores carry this item. I only ordered it online because my other item could not be bought at a store and did not qualify for free shipping by itself. the return shipment is with USPS but it was delivered by FedEx so I guess I will have to take it to a post office. The return label was part of the email and wanted to print across 2 separate pages. I had to play around with the scaling to get a good print.
