I was a little hesitant of getting this item because of all the reviews but I still got it for my daughter and she absolutely loves it. It is very educational and entertaining. I teach shapes numbers and letters. It was very easy to set up with my DVD player. I recommended if you are the type of parent that likes to play with your children because it creates a great bond between you and your child.

We received this as a gift last Xmas. We brought it home and set it up on our DVD player. It was fairly simple, just need to follow directions and program it like a remote control. We even brought it to Grandma's and set it up there. It gives you the option to use with 3 tv's/dvd players. My daughter immediately loved this system! She had just turned 2 when she got it so I didn't have high expectations that she'd be interested in it for very long. It came with a game that had a rating of 9 month +. Although it was cute, there wasn't a lot to it, seeing as it was geared towards a baby. It had a lot of push a button and then a little show would play. It was still more educational than most of the kids tv. My husband went out and found her the 24 month + games and what a difference. She had to turn the controller over to toddler mode and follow along with directions to learn cause and effect, counting, colors etc. Although she already had mastered a lot of these skills, it was a fantastic reenforcement in a fun way. My daughter still plays with this very often and it's a great interactive way for her to play. She still even likes to play the "baby" games, even though I had thought she had outgrown them. She loves the songs and animals in them and usually can be found dancing and moving along when her hands aren't needed for the buttons, which keeps her moving in a way that TV alone just doesn't do. This is easily the best toy she could have ever gotten. She loved to show off her "video games" We think any toddler could get into this system.

I bought this for my son's first birthday. He did not show much interest then, but now he loves it. (He will be two in December.) He will also be bilingual with Spanish as his second language and I love how each DVD offers many languages and you do not have to buy a separate DVD for Spanish. It is truly durable and holds up to my toddler dropping or throwing it several times! I love the quick switch from baby to toddler mode. The only negative thing I have to say is that it only comes with one DVD that only has a few short games on it. I expected it would come with a full DVD with more game options. The games are expensive at $20, but will be worth the educational experience in the long run.

My son got this for his first birthday. I was really excited about it because I had read the reviews of this and the v-smile baby and this seemed to be the winner. Well once I got it out of the box and tried to set it up the problems began. None of the codes they gave in the book worked. Then I got online to look for additional codes on their site and it was down. So I called them. They gave me a list of codes and when I asked if these didn't work was there anything else I could do? They suggested I buy a new DVD player. An absurd idea!!! Well they didn't work but I found some more codes through Google. And I got one to work. My 1 year old loves the music and my 3 year old loves playing with it. She now sings her ABC's in tune with there song. I know my 1 year old isn't going to be far behind as he loves to try and sing already. Overall it is a great toy once you get past set up. The games are a little pricey. But they really aren't anymore than any other game system out there.

I decided to buy this product for my 9 month old son, he was more in love with the box than this little leap system. However I did get my 3 year old daughter to use it and she loves it. I like the price that I paid for it!! What I don't like is the price for each game.

My son got this for his first Christmas (2 months at the time) and when my husband took it out of the box just the other day since now he is old enough to play with it now ( 10 months old) and tried to set it up the codes that they gave us in the book did not work. We called the 800 number (real helpful) and they gave us 50 more codes to try and after a hour none of the codes working so we called them and they told us that some of the Panasonic DVD players don’t work with the system (newer ones & older ones). We have a 5 disk new DVD player and one that is a single disk that is 3 years old and it still did not work on them so we had to send it back to the leap frog company and they said they would send us something else or an older system (we get to pick) Also the 3 games that he got with it they will not work with the other systems they have. So the system and the games all went back to the store because it don’t work on my DVD players It’s a great toy as long as it will work with your DVD player but you wont know tell you get it home.

I had high expectations for this product, and it didn't match up to them at all. It's a "good" gaming system, but nothing more than that. The games are the worst part. If they would just start making better games for this then I'd re-review with much higher stars! The games are about $20 a piece, and no where near worth that!! They're slow, boring, and you're unable to fast forward them. You CAN skip back to the menu at any time though (Whew!). I love the concept of the game controller (baby to toddler), and I COMPLETELY stand behind the durability of it. My daughter has dropped this controller many times (on hardwood floors) and it still works like it's brand new :) I don't know many other electronics that could withstand that kind of damage :) All in all, it's not a bad system. I REALLY hope they start making better games for it, because it really has the potential to be awesome little system for kids :) PS: The Dora game is pretty good!! ;)

I expected more from Leap Frog. It said it was an interactive device and it came with three games. I would not consider what it came with as "games" they were push a button, any button and watch a 5-10 minute video. That is not what I expected. I wanted my daughter to have to interact with the toy not sit and watch tv. She could watch tv without this system.

I had high expectations for this product, but that came to an end fast. Both my 1 & 3 year old have no interest in this product. The games are to slow, to redundant and you can not "fast forward "them through these areas. Yes, the concepts being taught are valuable, but they are not presented in an appealing manner for children (other than characters that they can relate with). As far as the controller - The joystick side doesn't associate with direction so the child isn't impowered to feel like they are playing the game and the button side doesn't associate between the 3 buttons just that a button is pushed. Yes, the games ask for specific directions, but anything goes.

We bought this product for our 18 month old for Christmas. We tried programing it to every DVD player in our house and it won't work with any of them. I'm still waiting for a reply from the company to troubleshoot the problem and still no response. Mean while my child doesn't understand why she can't play with her new toy.
