Wonderful learning toy, just like all Melissa and Doug items I've purchased. My only negative feedback is that the crouton box should be plastic, not very thin cardboard, as it's easy to destroy. And that the salad bowl could be a bit larger to use all the wonderful ingredients it includes. My grandkids love it, and follow the "menu" very easily, as well as create their own. Definitely an A
Love the wooden toys. I'm a preschool teacher and it holds up really good. Kids can be really rough on toys. Plus it's almost like you are really working in the restaurant and kids love to play with stuff they feel is real
Quality for our little one. She is 5 and it was extremely age appropriate.
I bought this salad play food set for my daughter who just turned 3 years old. This is by far her favorite kitchen play food that keeps her entertained for a good half hour! I love that it is open ended and there are so many ways to play and learn. She is strengening her motor skills by holding the play knif correctly and chopping. She is learing how to follow the salad Recipes and also developing her social skills in imaginative play where she explores various roles as the salad maker and the customer.
I bought this and the Cutting Fruit Set just this past Christmas for my two year old granddaughter. As soon as it was unwrapped she began mixing her 'salad' Her "poppops" was also included in the mixing. Just prior to Christmas breakfast, my granddaughter had four adults sitting on the floor playing with this well made product.
My grandson loves this set. I know because he takes good care of it.
I am the one did all the cutting, while my baby is doing all the mixing.
My daughter is nine and loves this. The pieces have Velcro and stick to the fork so it's like your actually eating the salad. The menu dry erase works great. The salad dressing pretends to pour with a little string that comes out when you turn upside down. Great quality.
This set is really cute. I love the lettuce leaves that are made of fabric - so cute! The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, is that this set is packaged in a HUGE box. It's about the size of a box of oranges that you might buy in a supermarket. The problem with this is storage space. Plus, over the years, Melissa & Doug have reduced the packaging of their products. What I mean by this, is that you really cannot store the toy in its original box, because there's no way to close it. They used to make clear plastic lids that could slide over the toys so that you can keep the pieces together. Now, the pieces come in a big box and are all separated by moulded plastic, which you wouldn't be keeping, so now you have this huge box, but you can't even use it to store the pieces in because without the moulded plastic, the parts take up like a quarter of the space it used to. This leaves the pieces too much space to slide all around, and since there's no lid, they can fall right out and get lost. Overall, I am a big Melissa & Doug fan, and have been for over 20 years - their products are always creative, well-made, and use a child's imagination which I prefer over electronics. I just wish they would package them better so that the toys can be stored in their original box. (this also would help eliminate waste from all the packaging materials).
My daughter likes the toy but I think it's a bit overpriced. Also the shipping isn't 3-5 business days, it took more like 10 days.
