My boyfriend and I both are very sensitive to harsh perfumes and fragrances in body soaps. This black soap has, quite literally, no scent. We opened the bottle up, and couldn't smell a thing. It makes our skin SO lush and smooth and neither of us break out from fragrances. Win-win!
I mainly use this as a dish soap by mixing roughly 1:1 with warm water in a spray bottle, or use it as-is in a soap-dispensing dish scrubbing wand. It works well. I love the fact that the ingredients are *actually* natural, not just labeled as such. The soap is naturally antibacterial so I've never had to worry about that. I've been using it for years and will continue so long as they keep making this unscented, lovely product!
A friend turned me on to this soap last year (by accident-we were traveling together and I forgot soap, so he lent me his), and I've tried to stay stocked up on it ever since. I have eczema and a taste for natural-ish products, so this works great for me. It cleans deep and is never irritating. I use it as hand soap, body wash, shampoo, shaving cream, and to hand-launder my silk pillowcase. It takes a moment to lather up, but it's totally worth it!
I use this soap as both a refill for my bathroom hand soap and sometimes as a body wash in the shower. I love that it is unscented. It keeps my hands very moisturized without leaving a residue and is very gentle so if you have cuts or anything it doesn't hurt as much as a normal soap would to wash with. I like the color and the shimmer as well. It really looks nice in my clear soap dispenser.
This soap is the best. Absolutely changed everything. It's non drying and so versatile. Although it's definitely not a shaving cream lol that I don't buy. Shaving with soap is irritating and I don't recommend that. But it's a body wash, shampoo, baby wash, face wash, and for me most recently a tattoo after care wash. Absolutely perfect. My tattoo doesn't get as dry and itchy with this stuff. It's gentle and effective. It's something I can't not have in my house now. So buy two bottles!!
I have been buying this from my local health store for the last couple months. I love the clean ingredients and how great it works for my overly sensitive skin. Thanks for creating a coconut oil (I'm allergic) free product!
I like how this soap feels. It's smooth going on and I feel cleaner after using, especially since it's a natural product. My only wish is that it got a little more foamy, that way shaving would be a smoother experience. Otherwise, love it!
I'm allergic to sulfates. Such as sodium laureth sulfate, a very common chemical in liquid soaps. I used to use Alaffia Everyday Shea unscented, but can't buy it anymore. I'm finding this black soap acceptable having no sulfates, and if diluted slightly, it can be used in the old shea bottles. I gave it 4 stars because it still has a stronger scent than the shea, which is still my fav. Very pleased with Alaffia products.
I just went to stock up on my All-in-one wash and just happened to look at the ingredients. I felt like something was different about it. So I left the bottles in the store. When I got home I noticed I had one bottle with the old ingredients and one with the new. I wonder if this is why my kids have been developing this fine rash on their bodies. They shower in both bathrooms where the respective soaps are kept. So it's difficult to know for sure. Nonetheless, it's very frustrating when companies just change ingredients. You can almost guarantee that they will either sell to a bigger and/or somehow mess up a good thing by changing the original formula that people had come to love. I already pay more for personal hygiene products. I'm now looking for a new cleanser. It's so annoying!
I have been using Alaffia Unscented Black Soap for over 3 years now and haven't had problems until now. Upon my recent discovery, the ingredients have changed and it has reaped havoc on my skin. My face is so much dryer now and does not stay moisturized as it once did. I am so frustrated because I also used this in my hair wash routine.
