This balm is amazing! I primarily use this for my face, it's the perfect moisturizer for me. I've also used it to help heal cuts and burns with my family. It's a powerhouse of nutrition for the skin. I'm so thankful that Alaffia doesn't just make fantastic products for me and my family, but more importantly they help other women and families. All in all an awesome company!!
Between Covid and lots of gardening, my poor hands have taken an absolute beating. Just a touch of this Balm along with Alaffia's Pure Shea worked into those rough crevices works wonderfully! Learned that if I do this early in the day; before all the handwashing, the “magic sinks in” and helps protect from even more damage. So I now do this throughout the day. It doesn't take much to work, and the results are super!

I bought this to help with restoring firmness to my skin and to help balance it, as I tend to be very, very oily (my nose starts to produce oil within 30 minutes of my washing and moisturizing my face if I don't overhydrate my skin and use some kind of mattifier as my very last step). So far so good with this balm. It's not the best smelling item (I think it's the neem), but the smell doesn't last long, and I do feel like my skin is starting to balance out. I use it at night after toning my skin with fresh aloe vera gel. I then put on the balm and top up with the Everyday Cocunut face cream/lotion.
Finally the balm is back to being totally smooth. The product had beads of coconut oil that would not always melt. This was going to be my last try so thank you for fixing that.
I have been using Africa's Secret multi use balm for years. There is nothing else that works for my skin like this. It makes my skin feel like baby's skin, healing and radiant! Thanks for this beautiful, thoughtful product!
I consider this to be the crown jewel in the Alaffia portfolio. It is fantastic for pretty much everything. I've used it as a healing and maintenance balm for a new tattoo. I use it on my heels when they get dry, and on my hands as well. I use it after a shower to moisturize areas that get especially dry. And at least twice a week I gently work some onto my face before going to bed. When I wake up my skin looks like I've been to the spa. I use it in the summer and in the winter. And it lasts quite awhile because you only need a little. It is my favorite Alaffia product - and I use quite a few of them.
This product works well and is free of added fragrances. However, if you're sensitive to scents be aware that this balm has a heavy scent of sesame oil. Otherwise I would give it a 5-star rating
In prior purchases, the product felt and looked quite different than the product I received. Upon comparing ingredients, it is quite clear the formulation changed and some ingredients were removed or replaced. While the overall result may be comparable, changing the formula and maintaining the product name feels misleading. Going forward, I may be best served securing the product locally, where I can visually inspect it and manage my expectations.
I LOVE the unrefined, unsc3ented shea butter! LOVE! I'm surprised I didn't like more than I did. It is not as good on my skin as the shea butter. Not a bad product but not for me.
