This grill has exceeded every expectation I had/have of a Char-Grill. I'm not an experienced griller (yet ;p), but it didn't take a genius to figure out, this investment was priceless. The assembly wasn't that difficult to understand, but again that's just my opinion. Must buy if you're looking for a low-cost, high performance grill.
It's nice, we like it, the grilled food is great. It took my partner a long time to put together and he said it had more parts then he would have expected to see, so I would probably have had a hard time putting it together by myself. It looks nice on the deck.
I bought this for my grandson and he LOVES it. This is his first grill and only the second time he's ever used a grilled. He stores it in his basement and it's lightweight enough for easy handling.
Good grill for the money, however the company does not make or carry this grill any longer, so you can not get repair parts or upgrades like a firebox for smoking. I got this one because it said you could add the firebox for smoking with the grill. Not really a big problem, as a chef/cook, I know how to set it up to smoke items with indrect heat, kind of a pain, but it works.
I found you really need two people to put this together, otherwise it is a really nice grill with lots of cooking space and with the two side tables quite handy to use. I thoroughly enjoy it.
bought from online for my husband for fathers day. when we started putting it together we noticed there were parts missing. when i purchased it i thought it was gonna be new not something someone else had already purchased then took parts out and took back to store. other than the fact that it was missing items its nice.
This item is cheaply made. If it were 25% less money, it might be acceptable. However, it isn't what the two & three star reviews will have you believe. One was missing parts & the other was a mis-shipment. Blame Walmart, not Char-Griller. These reviews are not for the store. It deserves at least three stars for being serviceable & decent looking... for awhile. I was given this exact grill by a neighbor - he bought it, used it a few times, then moved to wood pellet. He didn't like getting black on his hands. I'd never have paid money for it. Here is my issue with this grill. It is drafty - because of this, it is difficult to regulate temperature, nevermind smothering coals for use next time. It dents easily, warps & worse. Paint readily flakes off after overheating or the slightest damage. It is an attempt to LOOK like the old welded barrels used on ranches & backyards across America. For similar money and, if space isn't a concern, grab a Kingsford (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Kingsford-820-Square-Inch-Barrel-Grill/19398430?findingMethod=rr) or save money by opting for one of the square Made in America Meco charcoal grills. For the best versatility, try a Weber One-Touch kettle - also Made in America. If you'd like to save money & don't have a large family to feed, I can grill up meat & veggies for four on a Weber Smokey Joe - get the Silver in the Smokey Joe as it has better vents. Thirty bucks and Made in America. About the only grills Walmart carries that I'd recommend Char-Grillers over would be SOME of the UniFlames. But hey, the UniFlames are usually a lot cheaper. What do I generally use this grill for now? Lighting charcoal chimneys to fill my smoker during a meat smoking. Seriously folks - if you want a good grill that will serve you well for years, get the Americans - Weber or Meco. If you're not quite as picky about performance, some of the Kingsfords or UniFlames will work. If you want to save money on charcoal over the long haul, only Weber will do it - close the lid & vents when you're done grilling and get 2-4 cooking sessions on a load of charcoal - lump or briquettes.
The instructons are so bad I can ot even find a word to explain them. You put things together and then two steps futher have to take it apart to do something they should have instructed you to do prior. Also ours did not come with the front panel on the bottom and is very loose and feels like it could fall over. It did not come with metal washers to support it and actualy teels you to use the fireberglass washers to support the bottom-fiberglass really for support? We did cook in it the first time today and it does cook great and have easy clean up. I plan to call the company on Monday to dicuss the fiberglass washers and the stability of the unit and why it does not llok like the pituce with a front bottom panel for support. If needed after I all them I will return to Walmart because this product is not as decsribed and I do not think I should have to buy addtional products to shore it up and make it stable.
