I was leary based on reviews. But I am so pleased I went ahead and ordered this. It's big enough and small enough- for the two of us, or even if we have another couple. It is not the huge ugly thing our mothers/grandmothers had. It's sturdy, heats well, is not heavy. And I can bake a cake in it outdoors on hot days! I actually got it for the travel trailer. I took others' advice and got the Loctite. Not sure it was needed, but haven't had mine that long...So it's a slow/low cooker, high cooker, and can bake biscuits, breads and cakes...and the price was excellent. What's not to like?
I ordered this item in the picture. It was supposed to come with a white tall Lynn so that it could be used well. Wow this is what I ended up getting was the glass lead and I bought crying my eyes out. Because I called it and sent off the pictures and let them know. And they told me that the item was discontinued. But yet it was in the app and said saying nothing about it being discontinued. Ude, so now I'm stuck with something that was very hard to and still I'm back to square one agall that wasted time. And at a very pricey price. What do I do now
The non-stick coating is excellent. Truely easy to clean. The plastic high-rise top gives more room to cook and is not heavy like glass. It does not have a vent on the top that you can open and close. However, the lid has a small bumper on each corner that sits on the rim of the pan. This creates a small gap between the skillet and lid, letting the steam escape that way. The ll" size is large enough to handle say 4 chicken breasts, yet it is easy to handle. The temperature numbers on the dial are under plastic and are protected from wear. All in all it works well.
It is small. I live alone and cook for one. So this is a good size for me if I want to cook a small meal. You can fit two good size pork chops in it with no problem. If you want to have a slightly larger meal then you will have a problem. Other than having a devil of a time getting three of the screws loose it was ease to put together.
I am so happy I chose this skillet. They did not have this at my local walmart but after reading the reviews I thought it would be worth the wait. I Ordered it online and picked up at my local store for free less than a week later. I have had it for a couple of weeks. The non stick surface is great and makes for very easy cleaning. The heating is uniform. It warms up quickly and also cools off quickly. I have made eggs, pancakes, fried chicken, and cooked pasta. I just ordered the baking rack. I cant wait to get it and bake some cookies!! If i had to say something negative I would say that the legs are slick and tend to slide around a bit when you're cooking, but Overall great product!!
Dimensions First: cord length 31" without plug. Control from Off to Warm up to 400 degrees. 8.5" tall with lid. 4.25" to top of skillet without lid. Dome is 3" tall by itself. Skillet is 11" square and 13" on diagonal. 8.3 Amps. 1000 Watts. One year warranty. Made in China. Use #2 quality phillips screwdriver that is long enough so you get some torque. Do use threadlock on the 6 screws when you install. do not overtighten, especially the lid handle. give the threadlock and hour to set up well before use. be sure to use your 20 Amp kitchen outlet and breaker that are in fresh condition so you have no heat issues. The skillet works great. we have used it for everything, even popcorn. just flip over the skillet and fill the dome. just don't add so much popcorn to pop and you'll be fine. we use skillet camping and rv. it's nice at home under our powered vent to cook fish. don't worry about "plastic" dome. it's not exactly plastic. it's very solid. very nice. Glass lid skillets just fog up when your cooking so useless for viewing. and, glass has it's own issues. buy this skillet. be pleased.
I have been using Presto products for many years and finally had to replace my 11" electric skillet. Still the same Presto quality and I am very pleased .... except for one thing .... the lid. My original had a metal lid with a vent. This one has a plastic lid with NO vent, so when certain foods cook, there is no place for the pressure to be released except the edges of the lid, and therefore down the side of the skillet and all over counter, stove, or where-ever I have placed it. Please go back to the old design with a vented lid.
It's not to big, not too little. Cleans up easily, and keeps me from heating up the house from the stove or oven. Used one all the time when I was a bride. Forty-two years later, I'm making updated recipes from way back when, and have all the features I loved then with new things that make it better. Great value!
i was looking for a replacement for the Presto fry pan/skillet I've owned for decades now...but... The lid on this one is plastic. I dont recall thst being specified ...I assumed from the picture it would be cast and painted. The coating on it looks to be about 1/10 the height of a sheet of paper...I don't foresee this one lasting for a year, much less decades. Also, therd is no vent on the plaxtic lid. i am relatively sure the model I ordered was shown with a vent in the lid. All of which leaves me disappointed. That said, someone that might be buying one for the first time, without a model to compare it to, wont know any better and will likely be pleased with it..for about a year.... when the nonstick coating is flaking off.
Overall it cooks great but don't use any red sauces. I used tomato sauce in one of my meals and the steam stuck the red sauce to my lid which is plastic. I tried everything to get it off the lid but nothing worked. I will be returning it.
