This eye pencil does everything I bought it for. It glides on my lower/inner eyelid soft & smooth, stays on all day. The purpose of using white makeup pencil on your lower/inner lid is to match the white of your eye to make your eyes look bigger. I have small almond shaped eyes and this pencil makes them look bigger & brighter...exactly what I had hoped.
The Maybelline New York Eye Studio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil does just as you would expect. The pencil is easy to use and goes on smooth with no uneven coloring or clumps. Once it's on it stays on too. It doesn't smear or rub off. It doesn't run or give you raccoon eyes after several hours of wearing. The gel pencil does come off fairly easy with any makeup remover without leaving any leftover debris of coloring. The only thing I didn't love about this pencil was how wide it was. If you have narrow or smaller eyelids then you might want to look elsewhere. That being said it looks beautiful once it's applied. The "Audacious Asphalt" at first glance appears to be a very very dark gray almost black but after wearing it a few times I think the color leans a lot towards gray. Its a nice change for when you want something a little bit different without going too far into the realm colors. Subtle color change from the normal black.
I figured I would give this a try. I liked the color a lot and it is very rich. It also went on very nice and smooth. the color just glided on and you could smudge it for a smoky look before it dries. once it dries it's on there! I could take my hand and rub it all over the test mark on my arm and no movement or loss of color. If I ran it under water no problem either, but I couldn't rub while it's under water or else it came off a bit. All that said I have sensitive eyes and it didn't feel good on. I tested it without any other makeup on and it made my eyes water and itch. I kept it on though because I wanted to see how it wore long term for anyone wondering. It was good for several hours. I think after about 8 hours you could see where it was kind of wearing off around the outer corners of my eyes where they had been watery. It was kind of flaking and crusty feeling from the glitter of the stick. I think it would work great if your eyes weren't as sensitive like mine. I don't have luck with a lot of eye makeup, so I'm not going to say this is bad product. It has a lot of good things to it. I did like the color I got too which was, Grey Crystal. This is also like a fat crayon, not a pencil. It also removed very easy with my face wash.
The liner is awesome to apply, glides super well! The obvious issue being the inability to sharpen. Yes maybelline, we see you defending that you can sharpen yourself but it's not that easy. It's messy, the tip is never the same. Make an advancer at the bottom like it appears to have when you buy it.
While this was great , went on easy but after I sharpened at about the 1/4 of use the color broke, so I sharpened more and still it broke and was in two separate sections and kept breaking so of course I tried sharpening more and like it had dried up. Very disappointed
I am not a huge fan of maybelline products to begin with but I had high hopes for this. It claims to be a soft creamy long lasting cream eyeshadow. It's supposed to be highly pigmented and glide on with ease. I do like cream and stick shadows so I'm not unfamiliar or uncomfortable using or applying them. This was very easy to apply. You just swipe it on. It glides on very very easily. It's very smooth like it claims to be and it's a very very soft shadow stick unlike some I have used in the past. The claim that it's long lasting is not very true for my case. I did not use a primer with this nor did I use any powder to set it. The product alone is not very long lasting. After a little while you will definitely have creasing. This was unfortunate as I didn't apply much so I was not prepared for the creasing. Also because it is so soft it goes on a little heavy and a little harsh so the lines are harsh and you definitely have to blend out the edges for a nice look. This might be good as a base or with a setting powder on it and it has high reviews but for me the product was just not up to my expectations. I would not recommend this.
Eyeliner is my go-to eye makeup for every-day wear, so I was looking forward to trying out this new pencil. This eye pencil is not what I expected from the name, “gel pencil”. It has the look and feel of a crayon, and goes on my eyelid probably the same way as a crayon would. The tip is pretty thick, and it doesn’t glide on smoothly (like the term “gel” implies). [See photo] I couldn’t get a controlled, close to the lash line applying the pencil directly to my skin, so I tried a foam tipped brush. This was much easier to apply and gave the line a smoother look [see photo]. Using the brush gave me a better application, but it is an extra step if I’m in a hurry to get out the door, and it’s another item to bring with me if I want to reapply the pencil during the day. I do prefer a thinner pencil, but maybe someone who likes a bold stripe of color, and/or has a more adept hand, would like this thicker application. The color, Audacious Asphalt, is very nice, however.
It was the only black eyeliner at my local drugstore that resembled my favourite L’Oréal infallible gel liner after I ran out the night before Halloween. I used it once on Halloween and my girlfriend used it too and it was gone. One night. I sharpened it with no such luck. It broke and the plastic looks rugged and it just doesn’t work anymore. Now I’m completely out of eyeliner. The only makeup I wear. It looked really good that one time I used it though. I thought maybe it twisted at the bottom or had a sharpener inside like my favourite one but no.
Maybelline must be discontinuing this item. Can't find anywhere, ordered this online. Was awful!!!!
Is not waterproof like it advertises and you can't sharpen it so you have to use a knob to adjust it and the one on my pencil is broken, so I can't even use all of the product. Don't buy this makeup
