I have used a ruler similar to this and love it, and is why I bought these. However on this ruler the inches are in tenths, making it essentially useless for measuring almost anything in the US. The mm side may be OK, and I understand the metric system well but seldom need a measurement in mm or cm. If you expect to use this on 16ths or 1/8's you will be out of luck.
Doesn't work as well as expected, would not recommend. You must hold it above the paper you wish to read. I hoped it could be placed directly on the paper and slide it along as you read, but at this level it does not magnify.
