If you must have an electric grill, this is the one to have. We live in a condo and cannot have an LP or charcoal grill on our deck. Previously we had an electric grill made by another major manufacturer. It did okay but wasn't great. The Edge is much better. It does a better job of cooking, the temperature is more controllable, and it has a self-cleaning feature. Neat! Assembly is relatively easy, and the materials and workmanship appear to be very good.
I LOVE my new electric grill. At first, it took me a little bit to figure out the temperature ranges for high, medium, and low but a quick google search helped with that. I would like it to have a little larger grease trap and easier to access but all in all it's great. I had a table top electric grill and used it most nights to cook. I didn't want gas, pellets, or charcoal grills. I like the convenience of being able to plug it in and be able to instantly cook and never worrying if I have fuel.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The CharBroil Edge Electric Grill is the ultimate “new aged” grill! We have used traditional, propane, infrared, and charcoal. Of all the grills we have used, this is by far our favorite! It left beautiful grill marks on our burgers and hotdogs! You preheat the grill using the dial which gets to the exact temperature desired. The design is sleek and modern. It has two side flaps that fold out into counter space. Even with the side flaps, the size is compact but mighty. The grill surface is a nice size and very easy to clean! We have run out of propane last minute and this grill prevents that from ever happening again! Electric is much better for the environment! It does take a little longer than a normal propane grill to heat up. The first few times we used it, it had a plastic/electric smell as most heated appliances get at first and WILL go away. Overall, this is the new standard in our home!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If your condo or apartment doesn't allow flame grills on the deck, this handy little electric grill will be terrific! It's a sturdy unit, easy to assemble, and takes up just small footprint. The grill gets HOT, too! I set it to 700° to cook some ribeyes, and it seared them beautifully. I love the side shelves that can be raised or lowered ss needed, a nice touch.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is grill is a great option for those living in apartments or townhomes who are not allowed to use gas or charcoal grills. It is very easy to put together using the BILT app. The app shows you step by step animations on how to assemble everything and what parts to use. This made it so much easier than flipping through a paper manual. Overall this a a good grill. So far I have cooked steak and burgers on the grill and both have come out great. The only downside I can find and the only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that it takes a while to get up to temperature. I am used to cooking on gas and so this will take some getting used to, but is only a minor inconvenience.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've never used an electric grill before so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect but it's actually quite nice! The assembly was VERY easy. Took me about 20 minutes by myself. For a normal cooking temperature the grill heats up pretty quick. When cranking it up to 700° for a quick sear it does take about 30 minutes. That being said it is nice to be able to get a temperature that high just by turning a knob. I've only cooked burgers so far on it but they cooked perfectly and in the same amount of time as my charcoal grill. The only difference is that there are no flare ups so there are no charred or crispier parts anywhere. Which my wife is a big fan of. Myself not so much but it all depends who you are. The storage underneath is always nice to have as well. It does have the auto clean feature but I have yet to really see it make an impact on making cleaning any easier.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first experience with an electric grill and I didn't know what to expect. To start off with, assembly was very straightforward. It came with it's own screwdriver, and it actually worked out better than my powered driver. Once I got it assembled and ready to go though, I ran into the biggest con of this grill: It is very, very, very slow to preheat. Setting it at or near it's max temp of 500 degrees, I waited a half hour. However once it hit that temp, using it was a breeze. As you can tell from my photos, the first thing I threw at it was steak and garlic bread and they both came out AMAZING. Since then I've tried brats, chicken breasts and burgers and they've come out with varying degrees of success. Anything that really could use a little char on it doesn't come out as good, like the brats. But especially the chicken breasts and the steak were absolutely delicious. Because of that super slow heat up time, I can't use this for last minute meals like I could a propane grill. Ironically it's more like setting up a charcoal grill in terms of time, only with far less fuss. I won't be retiring my propane grill any time soon, but I love having the option to go either way. Definitely recommended.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are big on grilling, especially when it gets warmer outside. We got this electric grill for our upstairs patio because we figured it would be easier not to deal with propane tanks. It's also pretty compact, so if you want a bigger grill to fit more food - it's not for you. Assembly took a while and was kind of annoying. We usually prefer to buy our grills already assembled from the store. The grill's design is pretty cool and it looks almost futuristic. I like the wide shelves on both side of the grill, there's also some storage underneath. The settings are pretty simple. It has one knob to set the temperature , a power button and a clean button. I thought the grill took way too long to heat up. We followed all the initial grilling instructions, but the grill produced way too much smoke during our first use and basically the entire surface of the griddles got black right away from the very first use. Overall, it's an okay grill if you want something compact and simple, but it could be better in terms of heating up faster and performance.
I got the grill a week early which I was excited about! Got it all put together by myself in about an hour and a half. Went to use it for the first time and got an Error 1 code. Did everything the manual told me to do to correct the error and then I had an Error 3 meaning the burner was bad, ended up having to return it before ever using it. There was also a couple of spots I saw that was dented as I was putting it together. I was able to just wheel it up to customer service at Walmart and return it all put together without a box. So I was thankful about that.
What I like: Rapid and precise heating; Uniform temperature over the cooking surface; Simple to use and no flare-ups; Less mess than charcoal; Reduced cost over propane cooking. What I don't like: The cover height over the grill surface needs to be higher to cook taller foods; There needs to be more, and more constant, grill heat to maintain a smoker box; Food lacks smoky flavor (chicken tastes more like it was oven-cooked).
