Hubby loves these shoes. Hasn't had new sneakers in years and years and says they're so much more comfy than the Converse he's been wearing on our pandemic walks.
Excellent hikers! I have hiked many trails and used them as my everyday shoes. The wide width helped by giving me the comfort and fit I needed.
Here's what's up! I have the biggest flattest widest feet of anyone in my family! I normally wear Keens and quickly abandoned Skechers. This is my first foray into Merrell. Right out of the box, they fit like a glove. I'm super impressed with the construction and they are super comfortable. Great support and great cushioning. I am so stoked that Merrell has a large selection of wide shoes available. I will never go to another brand if these truly hold up as well as I have heard. I normally don't write any reviews, but if you were reading this and you have huge Bigfoot feet, these are the shoes for you!
Got them for work, I'm on my feet for 12 hours. Like all the Merrill shoes, they lasted for over a year. Great shoe.
Very comfortable, very supportive, and very durable. I have 6 pairs of Merrells. They fit my ugly, wide feet perfectly. Come up with a dressier pair with the the same footbed and I'll add a couple more!
The Alverstone shoe is superb. It has substantial body and feels firm on your foot. The tread is superior and long lasting. I use it as my standard footwear for all day use. I appreciate the half sizes and the wide width that is available in this shoe. I drive a school bus eight hours per day and I am up and down the stairs countless times each day. The Alverstone provides excellent support and traction for my safety. I have tried many shoes over the years and this shoe is best that I have ever used.
I love these. Very comfortable. I have a wider foot and these fit nicely. I've always liked the sloped heel and the sole has great grip. Good for hiking etc. I also wear a small lift which I put under the removable insole,
Shoe fits very well and I needed the wide width because of my wide feet. Very comfortable and enjoy hiking with these on my feet.
These are well built, and are offered in wide sizes. I read reviews were previous owners recommended going an extra half size up and it was good advice really good advice. When my foot heats up after a few hours it will swell a little,.. this isn't so noticeable on flat ground but coming down a grade without that extra half size my toes would definitely rub. I wear a little thicker booty sock to give me some room. In the winter when its cold my foot wont swell so the sock gives me flexibility. The toe box is wide on my EE's and I'm comfortable for many hours. I will buy again.... Good luck with yours
I have wide feet and have been through most of the major manufacturers, unsuccessfully looking for additional alternatives to the Merrell Moabs I have worn for years. In my experience, most of the other manufacturer's "Wides" appear to be on the same lasts as their regular "non-wide" shoes and only the uppers are any "wider". This obviously leads to a situation where my feet overhang the lasts themselves. Sadly, the Alverstone seems to exhibit this same trait - the lasts are considerably more narrow than on the Moabs. I immediately compared them to the same size and width Moab 2 mids in the same order and they're about 1/4" narrower across the ball of the foot area (pictured) and even narrower through the heel. I was excited to see that Merrell had added more wide offerings, and equally disappointed to find that these Alverstones were so much narrower than the Moab 2s.
