When I read the description of this game, it sounded really simple for a toddler. The problem is that you have to shake it rather firmly and precisely in order to pick up the disks on the ground. This would probably be better for a kid aged 4 or 5 rather than 3
I gave Elefun Snackin' Safari two stars (instead of zero) because the plastic pieces and game cards appear to be well-made. The game is just not fun. My 4-year-old received it as a birthday gift, and my 8-year-old was eager to play it (it is a two-person game). You each hold an elephant head by the handle and bounce it up and down in hopes that the suction cup on the end of the slinky trunk will stick to one of the cards you spread out on the floor before you started. You go until all the cards are picked up, and whoever gets the most cards wins. It was difficult for both me and my 8-year-old to get the slinky/suction cup to pick up the cards. My 4-year-old got frustrated quickly and quit. After we had about half the cards picked up, I asked my 8-year-old if he was having fun, and he said no, it was boring. I agreed. We put it back in the box, and are planning to return it to Walmart. I will say that we have wood floors, and the plastic ends of the slinky trunks banged into the floor rather loudly. It *might* be slightly more enjoyable on carpet (though I doubt it).
When I ordered this online I thought it was the game where the elephant shoots butterflies out of its trunk and you catch them with a net. My mistake for not looking closer. Anyway I decided to keep it and try it out. Very disappointed. The suction cups at the end of the elephants trunk, that are supposed to pick up the "snacks" do not work. It takes forever to try to get it to stick and when it does it usually just falls off right away. So the few times we've played we count it if it sticks for just second and falls off otherwise you would be playing for hours. It can be very frustrating for little ones. I would not recommend it.
