My wife and I remodeled out kitchen and selected the GE Café CT9800 as our microwave/oven combo. We look at several different brands. We are so happy with our selection. The stainless steel looks just beautiful and really accents our new cabinets. One of the great features is how well this oven holds temperature. My wife made our family's pumpkin break recipe, which is very temperature sensitive. And the pumpkin bread came out fabulous! Better then it's even been. The top panel controls both the Microwave and Oven. It's easy to use and enjoyable to work with. The center rotating knob controls most options and is very easy to use. We would definitely choose this oven again!
Beautifully designed oven and microwave combo. Love how clean it looks and easy to clean. The brushed gold handles just add an extra element to the appearance.
This was a nice upgrade for us from our last home, which was a range/oven combo with a separate microwave. So being able to reduce the amount of space was awesome for us! One of my favorite features is the turn dial to add time, seems minimal, but it makes a lot of sense if you want to add time other than 30 seconds, which is standard to most microwaves. Another feature was the convection oven. Having the dual microwave/convection oven allowed us to get rid our air fryer, which took up cabin/counter space. Overall we've been very pleased with this product.
The lower oven is fine as a conventional oven. What I really like is the speed cooking feature of the upper oven. It cooks frozen foods, like potatoes, pizza, and bread quickly. Most importantly, it does well with fresh vegetables that you want to roast quickly. I used the bell pepper setting on the speedcook dial for zucchini, onion, etc. They roasted in 1/2 the time that a conventional oven would take and tasted great. It performs like an air fryer.
Absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new oven!! It bakes perfectly every single time and was a lifesaver at Thanksgiving!!
Only had them for a few weeks so far. Love our induction cooktop. Still learning about the combo microwave and convection oven.
Love the fact that the oven heats quickly because of its size and the combination feature on the top micro oven is great for Crispy, quickly. I do find that the microwave takes longer than normal to heat things up than it my microwave, even on the highest, 10, power.
We have Cafe Appliances 7 months old. It is a new home. The oven- microwave has rounded corners and shinier stainless steel than the other industrial looking appliances (squared corners and darker stainless steel. The unit works fine, but we are very unhappy that it does not match!!!
After a couple weeks of using it, we have limited experience. Lower oven seems to work fine, microwave is good, and control panel is OK. There should be an indicator showing which oven is being used in the control panel. The upper speed oven is below average. Tried to use the toast option instead of toaster for more than 2 slices of bread and after 5 minutes, still not done. Better in the toaster. Using the convection portion of the upper oven is OK, but not as good as bottom oven, even for smaller portions. Proof and keep warm in the upper oven is good. Overall speed cook function when using Advantium cookbook recipes tended to over-cook the food. We learned to cut back on the time so food is not too dry. Another issue is the need to change between the glass and metal turntable in the speed oven. Would be easier to just use the glass turntable for all. Using the halogen lamp as a broiler is useless. One thing we learned is that the space between the glass in the upper oven fogs up when speed cooking. GE said this is normal and "intended", but we saw inconsistencies in how long it took for the fog to dissipate from and hour to 2 days. There may be a design issue there.
Microwave (advantium oven) not set square with lower oven (ie microwave edge trim not in same plane as oven so that when oven installed microwave oven top does not fit flush with cabinet on one side. Oven door was missing 2 of the 4 screws on bottom of door that holds door together. Oven door when closed does not align with top of oven trim. Exceptionally disappointed with the poor quality control on what is suppose to be a higher end product. Purchased this oven along with matching range. Have had 2 ranges delivered that had defects. First, rear trim that directions said was required for all installations could not be installed as the holes were never drilled at factory. Second unit unpacked and had loose parts and screws in box although box showed no apparent damage. As an engineer I'm shocked at the poor quality control exhibited by not one but THREE new GE cafe appliances.
