This is a really nice kit. I like how it has so many different fossils and gemstones included and gives a real experience for the kids. My daughter has been tinkering with it for the past couple of evenings and is really enjoying it. If you're looking for an old school experiential activity for the kids, I would highly recommend this one. Everything is included in the package for hours and hours of fun times.
This is a great educational project for both boys and girls. We took ours outside on table,the brick it came in was a little hard for my 6yr old,so you just add water to soften it up,he got really excited digging the gems out,and then we looked them up in the book they provide,I like these kind of projects because it's also a learning experience for them,and open up talks about what archeologist do,maybe this year can go to the museum also to further educate!
My daughter spent two hours digging out these gems and fossils. She loved it! After she found them all, she had more fun cleaning the gems and fossils and figuring out what is what. A lot of fun and a great gift idea!
My 8 year old son absolutely loved this!! The gems were great quality and bigger than we expected.
We purchased this for a 10 year old boys birthday. He really liked it.
My friend's 10 yro son collects rocks, so he is real excited.
This gemstone and fossils kit is awesome. Both my granddaughter and grandson love it. It has a total of 20 gemstones and fossils in a dig brick, comes with a magnifying glass, dig tool, a small brush and a learning guide. It take a while to dig them out so be patient. This will keep the kiddos busy and excited to see what they are going to find. I really need to find more of these, learning while having fun. I wouldn't recommend it for kids 3 and under.
I would have preferred to have it sent elsewhere, as it was a Christmas present. there was not a prompt on the site to do so.
My 6 year old son had a blast playing with this. I loved that he was learning and having fun at the same time. I'm always looking for new toys and ideas that'll keep his mind busy. I def. recommend this for kids ages 6-8. Gives them a hands on experience.
