This camera is very good I have 3 of them the deer don't mine the flash at night when it goes off. Dont use the video it eats up the battery life you will get a month on the batterys but 4 months if you use high res on the pics. The camers also caught the person that broke my tree stand and one of the cameras I like the camera and I like the Price of it to. My cameras are out all year long so while I am not there I still know what goes on out there.
For less than a hundred bucks you can't go wrong. Works best over a baited area bacause of a little shuuet lag.
I was unsure if I wanted to spend the $ at first. I had heard so many varying opinions about trail cams. They spook the deer, retrieving the chip will disturb the area, etc. Less than 4 hours after setting up the cam I had my first pic. As you can tell in these photos, not only is the resolution fantastic but the flash doesn't bother them at all. In fact, I am buying another cam online this week. For the price, this is one of the best cameras on the market.
I have 91 acres and have used the Moultrie 4.0 Game Spy and it has worked great. I replaced the Stealth Cams because they were so undependable. This Moultrie features a 6 volt battery operation that allows me to use it daily. I leave it as a surveilance when I am not there. These cameras have really showed me what is in my property that I wouldn't know other wise. Great product for a great price.
I bought this camera and use it as a security surveillance system. The reason it is perfect is that it requires no wiring, runs on batteries, and it takes about 1200 pictures with a 1 GB sd card. It's perfect I only have to check it once a week and clear the memory card. It's very simple. Also I engineered a permanent bracket to support it to my fence. Two L brackets bolted side by side easily support the camera's weight and the bungee cords hold it in place and make it easy to adjust and secure from wind. Just be sure to check the battery frequently and also to be sure the memory card isn't full. Otherwise it is perfect!
I purchased this camera for my husband for Christmas. I thought he would enjoy seeing what's in our backyard, since he's always at work and no time to really enjoy the wildlife in our yard. The picture quality is very good. We used the camera 3 times and then lost all of the internal memory on the 3rd time of use. NOTHING would work due to the memory chip being wiped out. I called the manufacturer and they wanted me to return the camera "With the receipt". They said they would replace the camera "only" with a receipt from Walmart. If we had no receipt they said they would replace it for $120.00. The camera cost less than that at Walmart. I then called Walmart and the Sporting Goods Manager told me to just come in the store and he would graciously replace it with a new one. Very nice Manager. We plan on getting a memory card to insert, instead of using the internal memory. A reminder for anyone useing the USB when loading your pictures to your computer, make sure you click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" next to the clock on your computer, this may be what wiped out our internal memeory, just a thought. All-in-all this is a great camera. We were so excited when we actually saw flashes going off in our backyard, didn't seem to bother the Gray Fox at all. Anyone purchasing this camera will receive much fun and gratitude with mother nature.
this moultrie D-40. the battary life is great!!!!!!! this cam does lose time maybe 10 min. in a months time.the bungee cords that you ues to mount cam. can be somewhat of a hassle. i got smaller bungee cords to use on smaller trees. you can get about 1000 pics 0n a 1 gb card and 1900 on a 2gb.the video mode can be grainey and makes you pics a smaller size. so i dont us the video mode. but use the multi shot 3x.
Works great - the range of the flash is somewhat limited so good placement on the trail is important. The detector noise is a little high in low light conditions but if the game is fairly close in at night (around 20 - 30 feet) you get really good images. Battery life has been really good.... I've had the unit out for about 3 weeks now in fairly cold temps and the life is down to about 70%
The only reason it is not a perfect problem is I'm having a few problems with the clock working right. It has to be reset every few days on two of the cameras to be meaningful. It actually will jump ahead by hours. However, notice that I said on two of them. I've purchased four of them. They are great for seeing what is out there. The first one worked so well I couldn't get back to the store fast enough to buy a couple of more. Remember to buy an extra memory card and a reader (in the electronics section of the store). Good product for a great price.
I have bought three of these game cameras. The pictures are good and its flash works very well. I bought these becuase it will print the date, time, stand location on the the photo. The only problem I have is that not one of the three cameras will keep the proper time. I have put them out and check them each week and I have to reset the date and time I check the cameras. Other than this problem I like the cameras.
