This is a great evaporative cooler but it is not for everyone. You need to understand how these work to really benefit from it. You need to open and place it in front of a window and you need to put it in a direction where the room you are cooling can be within direct air flow of it and you need to open a window on the opposite side within the general direction to allow the humidity to exit. I have this evaporative cooler in my bedroom in northern California Tracy area we have low humidity during the summer well under the 50% requirement so this has worked great for me as I work graveyard shift and can't afford to run any type of air conditioner unit all day while I sleep. This doesn't use much more than a box fan 220 watts as far as power and on a full tank of water it lasts me about 10-11 hours of non-stop running on low. It's as kinda loud over all like a box fan but for me I enjoy the white noise as it helps me sleep better. This is a great option for anyone who has low humidity and is trying to save some money on electric. It is well built and the swing function is really helpful to keep the air circulating around. Hope this helps anyone looking to buy.
My office is in my garage,I am in the garage a lot , and the older I get the more the heat gets to me. I just bought this item about two weeks ago, I wish I had purchased it at the beginning of summer. It has literally saved my life! It is wonderful.
I am in love with this cooler. Thanks to this cooler we can be outdoors and in our screened porch through out summers without getting impacted by the heat. Totally recommend this to everyone .
Very simple to use. Excellent delivery and good value.
This product works great 15 gallons in 8 hour time frame on 2 setting
Where unit is being used: El Paso, TX as an alternate source for in home cooling. Last year my wife and I purchased smaller units that did a decent job. However due to high mineral content in the water they all had large amounts of lime deposits after the season was over. When we needed to break out the ones from last year there were numerous issues that needed to be taken care of with them. So, we decided to purchase newer models. After research and reading the majority of the reviews on the many models, I decided to purchase two Honeywell 125-Pint Commercial Indoor/Outdoor Portable Evaporative Air Coolers, White/Gray, CO60PM. They are fairly large for an indoor cooler. If you don't have the space then don't purchase one of these. These would be great for a garage or outdoor workshop. For these to work effectively you need plenty of air circulation, otherwise the room will get humid. An issue that my wife has pointed out is that they go through a lot of water. However, it is possible to hook up a hose to the system. Which, helps from having to constantly fill the reservoir. Another issue we had with the ones from the previous year was trying to find replacement pads. So, I made it a point to ensure replacement pads could be purchased for this model. Which I had to contact Honeywell customer support. If you do need pads follow this link: http://www.sylvane.com/honeywell-cooling-pad-for-co60pm.html All in all these units work as well as possible for being an evaporative cooler. They are a bit pricey but well worth the cost. Keep in mind that these aren't Air Conditioners.
I had low expectations prior to buying this, which is why I give it four stars. But I have had experiences with a similar machine that was powerful, and this machine is not nearly as powerful or effective compared to the one I remember, and so I did not give it five stars. My first experience using an evaporative air cooler was when I served in the Middle East and temperatures soared to over 120* of dry heat by 9am. Having one of these guys was a life-saver. Now that I'm living in the desserts of southern California, I figured this machine would be a great alternative to A/C. So far, it's been decent enough to keep. We decided to buy the commercial size machine versus the non-commercial size one for the performance. To me, performance was much more important than having a pretty machine with a remote control. The air is cooler at a much lower cost than running the A/C. It's light weight and easy to maneuver. It has a hose attachment where you connect a garden hose to it so that it can self-regulate the water. You can set it and forget it for hours and never have to worry about water running out. The three intake vents and huge fan blades make for a great swamp cooler. However, this is by far, not the perfect machine. I noticed how not to great the machine was when I moved it from my downstairs tile floors to my upstairs carpeted floors. – Tiny handles: you can barely grip anything with the handles. I eventually gave up on the handles and bear-hugged it up the stairs – Tiny casters: great for tile/hard floors but not so great for carpet. – Filling: now that I'm upstairs with no garden hose access, I have to fill the machine using a bucket. The opening on top is shallow and prone to easily spilling over, which leads to wet carpets. You also can't fill it too quickly, otherwise, again, water will spill out. And the more you fill the machine, the heavier it gets, which adds to the difficulty of getting around on carpet. I ended up filling it up twice a day with about three gallons so that I can still move it around and not have to fill it so often. The three gallons will last for about 5 hours on high. – Noise: the fan was fine downstairs where space was more open. In a not-so-open space, the fan is noticeably louder. – Performance: Definitely not as effective as I remember it being when I was in the Middle East. But then again, there is a 40* difference, and the blades on the machine my shop used had about a 6' diameter. But since my expectations were low, it met my needs. Also, not *N*E*A*R*L*Y* as effective as A/C. We have A/C in our home but running it continually can be expensive. There was a heat wave in our area and we were dying. We finally got frustrated by how low the effectiveness of the swamp cooler is that we gave up and turned on our A/C. The swamp cooler take about 8-10 minutes for the coolness to be felt in a 20-square-foot room. The cool air from the central A/C was felt within 1-2 minutes throughout the house. So again, great alternative to A/C, but these are the drawbacks you can expect if you decide to buy this machine.
I did a lot of research on these coolers before buying, and I am so glad I went with this one. I live in Henderson, its dry and hot, and I have my workshop in the garage. This cooler is worth its weight. We have been having some 105 plus temps, and I wouldn't be able to work five minutes in the garage without it. I would have given it five stars, but the water gauge doesn't work correctly. It it did, it would get a five. Thankfully the gauge doesn't make it work any better or worse, and this baby cools off the garage perfectly. It started cooling right out of the box. The only thing that would have been nice is a remote, but again, that doesn't have anything to do with its cooling ability. I think Honeywell knocked it out of the park with this one.
I bought this portable cooler in case I had to turn off the swamp cooler in my house. I am an asthmatic and recently smoke from wildfires in our area coming in through our home cooler made it difficult for me to breath. Ordered this cooler to cool our home when the main cooler is off. Have not had to use it in the house as the smoked cleared, but are using it to cool off our garage. It works great for this and makes the garage comfortable. It is a little loud but does the job.
Bought this July 9th for our church outside services. Used it for 7 services and it has stopped working. The ground fault plug has failed. Called the company did not get much help except take it back to Walmart. This was an expensive purchase and would expect a better quality product from Honeywell.
