This camera shoots great video and takes awesome photos. Battery life is very good and it comes with a wall plug charger, which is great. Get a large capacity memory card and you'll be set. The only thing I don't like is the fact that you have to use the supplied Sony cable to connect to a computer instead of a standard USB or mini USB cable.
This camera is absolutely great!! It takes the most amazing pictures! The zoom is awesome! It looks great and more expensive than it really is! I'm glad I bought it before it sold out online!
Ordered a cyber shot 10.1 megapixel and it was ok...zoom was to short and fuzzy. pics ok..Brought back and bought a dsc-w290 and what a difference. Zoom is awesome and clear..pics are great, has automatic background feature for different lighting which can be put on manual. The movie is crystal clear and very steady. We have a camcorder but believe it or not this shoots better. play back on computer/ tv is a big clear movie,entire screen,pics and movies can be tweaked to hd with an easy setting. I would say buy this camera and you will be very, very satisfied. I have had several cameras over the years and this one shows how far technology has come. feels nice, feels expensive and is very compact..Bought a 8 gig card with it and on the best setting,clearest, I can get around 2500 pics or 1hr 30 min. movie. rechargable ion battery that came with it lasts long and charges quick..Great job sony...
This camera is really good at taking pictures and videos. The 12.1 megapixels makes for beautiful poster size prints. The auto feature switches the mode from Macro to Twilight to other settings. The software that comes with this camera is very user friendly and you can search photo's by facial recognition.
Is a very good camera, the only thing I didn't like is the battery and memory stick location, is easy to open when using the camera and in the previous model was on a side an also was easier to access to them without pulling the camera from its case. Other than that, I'm amazed with all the features, you can choose to give priority to children smiles while using smile shooter and also modify pictures to adjust smiles and appear to be bigger. Also cheap and takes beautiful pictures and video.
I switched from Kodak cameras and this camera is wonderful. Its tiny, the size of a deck of cards. Comes with a battery charger, but you need to buy a memory card with it. Fast and easy software to load onto the computer. Great sound quality on movies. You can freeze a frame from your movie and make a photo from that as well. Love it.
After nearly 3 weeks of looking at every brand of digital camera on the market! I must have read every review for all the point and shoot cameras available. I decided on the Sony W290! Very, very glad I did. I was always a huge fan of Sony products, I own many from them. Sony cameras definately rated the best in reliability in two top consumer magazines! Having the lowest defeats and complaints over a 5 year period! The W290 is super easy to use, the camera does everything automatically! Just aim and shoot, great pictures every time! Love the Carl Zeiss lenses Sony uses. They are German and used by professional labs worldwide! This camera packs a lot in it for the size and price! The camera is very sturdy and well built! With an all metal front and back case! Super sharp and clear big 3.0" LCD display screen. The double anti-blur and optical stabilization features work fantastic! I purposly tried to make the camera screw-up and couldn't! Printed out 20 - 4x6 and 10 - 8x10 prints on my HP Photosmart printer thus far! The photos look like a profeesional took them, amazing. Especialy from such a compact and affordable point and shoot camera! Plus the Sony W290 is probably the best looking and most modern design point and shoot, in it's price range! So look no farther buy the Sony W290 now! You won't be disappointed!
Bought it for our trip to San Fran...pictures came out awesome!!! Easy to use, long battery life, and takes really nice clear pics...and the large display is nice to have.
I had a hard time deciding which camera to purchase. After weeks of researching I decided on the W290 and I am so happy with it. The 12 mp makes the pics so clear. I have another camera with a higher zoom but this 5x zoom works wonders. The camera is a little "thicker" than I wanted but I chose it for the features also. For this price I recommend everyone to get one! The "easy" feature makes taking pictures hassle free.
I reasearched this camera on cnet.com and decided it was THE camera for me. Then it was just a matter of finding it at a store for the best price and Wal-Mart was it. I found a 8 gb media card at amazon.com at quite a savings ($27 + shipping). I am back in the world of taking pictures. I have a Canon, quite expensive top quality digital camera but it is cumbersome to carry for everyday use. I am a camera snob and wanted a point and shoot that will give me good clear shots more often than not and so far, this camera is delivering. It does not have that irritating delay I experienced with other point and shoots in the past. Technology is improving and the price is much better. I am quite happy to have this camera in my purse to use at a moments notice. PS the video feature is awesome as well. I haven't even begun to use all the features on this camera........ The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because there is no such thing as 100% perfect! =)
