I really love the new lock with it's own WiFi--it is super speedy and very impressive. I would, however, also love to see HomeKey integration at some point. Great product, though.
Very easy both to install as well as connect to WiFi. Automatically unlocks the door when I am close. With the keypad I gave a code each of my sons so they could check on the home while I am gone. They each have their own code. Since the lock notifies me who unlocked it, I know who is coming/going in my house. We bought it for our own home and like it so much, we are going to put it on all 6 of the airbnb's we own.
Installation was easy. Definitely like the features of the app, with door, locking and unlocking automatic. Also, appreciate being able to retain the original lock cylinder and key.
Good email support to answer my upfront questions before purchase. Great guides/videos/step by step app instructions to install the WiFi Smart Lock and the keypad. I hid/protected the keypad in a low profile one-gang electrical outlet cover box. Works great so far.
I love the way it works, and is easy to install. They work great in my short-term rental homes. BUT the batteries only last an average of 8-12 weeks. And CR123 batteries are the expensive ones.
I just wish that it would unlock automatically before I get to the door. I often have to wait and that part is annoying. I would suggest august allow us to set the boundary longer than 200 feet to get it to Auto Unlock before I get to the door. Or fix the issue so it's unlocked before I get to the door.
I have 2 of the August locks that require the bridge and 2 of the smart locks. They have all the features that I had been looking for which is why I bought them. The main issue with them is that they drop (off line) a lot but reconnect by themselves though. The smart lock sometimes takes over a minute to finally wake up and react and sometimes it is instant. My signal, according to the app says is all good but the reaction is inconsistent.
Best I could find for my application slow response on relook and unlock.
It took several emails and almost 30 days to receive the product ordered. August was kind enough to offer me a wifi bridge for the continued product shipping delay issues, but I had to contact August again to get this promised item sent. The product works very well. I now have three of them.
Unfortunately the lock was not pictured as incompatible to the current lock or I would not have purchased. Returned lock, paid for shipping and insurance now waiting on refund (week2 no $$) which will not cover total purchase. I have purchased lock set before and it worked.
