This works exactly as advertised. After following the included instructions, I was able to set this up. Inside & outside temp. plus two days of forecasts are all displayed inside the house. If you can follow the directions on a box of cake mix (and you aren't going to skip steps because "it couldn't possibly make a difference which order I put in the eggs or the batteries"), you'll be able to put this together and get it running with Internet connectivity to make the forecasts work. Good product.
The LaCross folks should do some serious R & D on this product. It has no lighted display which makes it useless in the dark or low light. The outside temp is in a scrolling display that moves too fast. The inside temp can be seen at a glance, but one has to work at getting the outside temp. Also the forecast seems to be way off. A popular TV weather forecast is about 10 degrees different than this unit. I am going to return it tomorrow.
setting this device up requires several steps which involve hooking it up to your home network, register the units online, and linking the display unit with the remote unit (which connected to the network). After setting everything up, it is working like a charm. However, I have 2 problems. First, I put the outdoor sensor right next to the display unit and compare the indoor/outdoor temperature readings. They are off!!! They are off between 0 to 5 degrees at different times. Second problem is really my major turn off about this product. I bought this product because of the 2 days forecast feature. However, after using it for serveral days, I've noticed that those forecast numbers are totally bogus. For example, it'll reported that today's high/low are 74/54. Tommorrow's 56/52. What??!!! 56 high 52 low??? I have not experience a day in my life that the high and low is only a few degrees different. Also, the day turns out to be around 86 instead. I then went on their site and check the forecast the for rest of the week. Here are the numbers: 55/49, 57/46, 47/42. Holy Cow!!! Just a whole bunch of bogus numbers. I then compare their forecast against serveral of the weather sites online and found that their number is way off. I have no idea where they got their numbers from, but it is just bogus. With a bogus forecast, making this 2-day forecast feature completely useless. I returned mine and got myself a regular indoor/outdoor thermometer and save myself some bucks.
Where do I begin (so much went wrong). First thing that happened was outdoor sensor would no longer talk to base. I tried to reprogram the base, only to discover that the serial number for the gateway went missing (fell off the back of the gateway). So, I ordered a whole new weather station (base, gateway, and sensor) and then found out once you order special features via your online account, they are only for the base that was previously registered! So instead of me replacing all with a new base, gateway, and sensor I had to use the old base (serial number tied to online account where I ordered services), the new gateway (original gateway no longer had serial number, had to use the new one), and a new outdoor sensor (original sensor did not funtion). Piece of junk!
