The short scale strat is worth the price of the package. Sounds good with factory pickups. Feels like a Mustang or Duo Sonic. Has the early 80's look with only 2 knobs. If I was a beginner I would progress quickly with such a fine starter instrument. Other than not including a gig bag for the guitar this little kit would be perfect for a beginning guitarist, especially if they already have some foundation and finger strength from playing an acoustic. I can't comment on the practice amp. A practice amp is just that and they are all pretty much the same. Perfectly fine for the bedroom.
For a "budget" guitar, the quality is amazing. I am very pleased with the result. Everything here works as it should. The pickups work great, and with the humbucking pickup and this amp, I can get an awesome distortion sound. The guitar stays in tune pretty well, too. I haven't had any problems with it. All in all, this is a GREAT deal! I like this guitar a lot.
