I'm writing this review for (firmware 2.9.6) Thread update Besides the easy & fast set up, the Stage controller seems to work very well. I customized each button to do a different scene. Turn on/off my bedroom lights, turn on my humidifier, set my bedroom lights to cool blue, set my bedroom lights to 30% & they each respond within 1 second after pressing the button. I would say it's super “instant”, or fast enough to compare it to a physical light switch with no delay whatsoever. The only issue I seem to have is the battery in the remote has been plummeting daily. Around 2-6% drain each day, I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Within 3 days it's already at 80% battery. For future, I don't want to make a chore out of replacing a remote battery all the time. I really have been enjoying that you can take the remote off the plate & place it next to you in bed. My Siri/HomePods are the worst at following simple directions even with the latest equipment & great connection. My other take, & hope in the future, the buttons as of now are not reversible, meaning, when you tap a button to “turn a light on”, you cannot tap the same button to “turn the light off”, you must use another button and make a scene just to turn the lights off. So, each scene requires two buttons for on and off, hence why they now have 9 button actions. But all in all, the remote is great & I highly recommend it if you are looking for an easy fast set up, HomeKit, no 3rd party app required and smart switch with no hardwire!
Fairly simple to program but not very responsive. Have to press multiple times often to get it to work. Hopefully firmware updates will make it more reliable. Feels cheap considering it's fifty bucks.
These are nice when they work, which in my experience is about 50% of the time. The buttons are extremely difficult to press in a way that actually actuates them, so some button presses don't work because of that. However, there are also many instances where the button is properly actuated (as indicated by the light that comes on) but there is simply no response. Also, the magnet that holds the remote in the wall plate is very weak. I've had two guests at the house who hit the button and on both occasions the remote fell out of the plate and hit the floor. The idea behind these is great, but in my opinion the execution here leaves a lot to be desired.
This is a great concept. It is fairly easy to connect to HomeKit. Sometimes the triggered devices are slow to react or do not react at all. I am using bluetooth, hopefully the thread update will fix this.
Starting with the mount: the magnet is too weak, and the sides are too sloped, resulting the the Stage falling out of the mount regularly. Now to the functionality: it works less than half the time. Simply, button presses don't result in the programmed activity actually occurring. Hoping, like many here, that thread improves this behavior. It's a lovely piece of hardware, though, and has a really nice feel to it.
This switch could be great but it needs thread enabled now. the bluetooth is awful and unreliable like all bluetooth smart home products. It looks great the magnet is cool. just wish the magnet was stronger as I often knock them off the wall while trying to switch them on or off.
The magnet in the wall plate is weak so care must be taken not to knock the controller off the wall when using it. Scenes are often not set on the first button press. The controller illuminates a light to show when a button press has been performed, and inexplicably the product does not respond to multiple button presses in a short period of time (e.g., push button 1 and then push button 2 to set two different scenes). I will be returning or discarding this.
Maybe this will work better once thread is added but with BLE this is useless. Scene turn on about 4/10 times and even then with 5-10 second delay. Back in the box until there is a firmware upgrade. Avoid for now.
Not sure I've been this let down by a product in a long time. was waiting over a year for this product. Ordered it on day one. At best it works 1 in 5 clicks. Battery life was at 85% after day one. This is not ready for prime time.
It barely functions. I can hit the buttons several times without any reaction. It's quicker to walk across the room, unlock my phone an use the Home app. Maybe thread will improve it but without an ETA will return it
