Medela's Freestyle Flex pump allows moms to pump hands free!!! This pump is the best breast pump I have ever used. I received this gem as part of the Steller Product testing panel . The pump fits in the palm of my hands and weighs a few pounds! I can pump hands free using this pump while wearing my pumping bra that keeps the flange in place. No more being trapped to outlets anymore!! As a busy mom, the feature that I enjoy most is how "free" I can be. I usually just put the pump in my pocket of my jogging pants and I can multi-task when I am at home. I've used this pump in my car to be honest while taking a short trip and I was able to relieve myself and express milk for my baby!!!! Never before could I do that in the car. All of the parts are dishwasher safe which is a second benefit. You can literally go up to 2 hours of pumping and get 2 sessions in before needing to charge the pump. The set that comes with the pump is very easy to assemble and use. There is no learning curve with this pump which is another benefit for new moms. Seasoned moms such as myself appreciate the freedom this pump gives us. Thank you Medela for making life easier for pumping moms. There's nothing better and healthier than breast milk for babies that all moms want so badly to be able to give their baby. This pump makes it possible!!
I chose this pump after weeks of thoroughly researching wearables for my second baby and it does not disappoint! I have the Medela Pump In Style wall unit and needed a mobile option so I can keep up with my 6 year old while also caring for baby %232 who recently arrived. The design is extremely easy to assemble, disassemble, and clean as it onlt has 4 pieces on each cup. The cups comfortably sit in a nursing bra or sports bra and the pump itself is very compact and light weight which makes it easy to carry around in your pocket. I use this in tandem with nursing as you can use one or both cups depending on yours and baby's needs from session to session. Personally I feel the suction and performance of the pump live up to the Medela reputation of excellence. I highly recommend this pump to any new mom, especially those who find themselves on the go or needing to be active within the household. Thank you Medela!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel for my honest review, and I can honestly say it is a life savior! The components are simple; pump, tubing, flange, cups, and the membrane. All parts are true to the Medela style, simple and easy to clean. The Medela Freestyle Hands-Free is perfect for on-the-go or to use while nursing. I used it while working and it saved me loads of time, not needing to step away to use a conventional pump (if you do not have the hands free pumping bra option). I also enjoyed using it while nursing my 4month old, having the option to use one side only. It is so compact and discrete while being powerful! It comes with 2 sizes of flange (I was able to use the smaller) that are comfortable for all size breasts. The only downfall is it does leak if not properly placed on the nipple or the cups closed completely. Those are things that can be overcome with more practice and use. Overall I am so very thrilled to have received this product and will continue to use it as my go-to pump.
I purchased the hands free pump when it first launched and it has been amazing since day one! I have no issues whatsoever, very comfortable, reliable and assembly is super easy. I mainly purchased this pump to have an alternative for when I returned to work besides my “pump in style”. However, I find myself using the hands free more. Sometimes I forget I have it on. Suction is perfect, cups are realistic and strong. You can't go wrong with this hands free pump.
I love the ability to just put these in my bra and pump on the go. I'm able to care for my baby and pump at the same time which is amazing. I don't feel like I get as much milk as I do connected to a bigger pump though so I wouldn't use this as your only pump if you're exclusively pumping
I Love my new Medela freestyle flex pump! This pump is so small and lightweight and I love that it fits right in my purse so I don't have to lug a giant pumping bag around with me everywhere I go. I love on the go cooler bag which is very helpful for carrying pumped milk. It keeps your milk cool for four hours at least. My favorite feature is how quiet it is and the light up screen is perfect for those middle of the night pumping sessions when I'm trying to keep the baby (and the rest of my house) from waking up. It's even a smart pump so I am able to connect it to the app, which helps keep track of how often I pump and how much milk I produce. Overall a great investment for any mom on the go looking for a lightweight, portable breast pump with strong suction and a rechargeable battery. I got this pump free for the purpose of reviews from steller testing panel.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I breastfed and pumped for my first kid and now am doing the same for my second baby. I have used many breast pumps, as I am always on the look out for a product to help with my journey in providing breastmilk for my baby and balancing being a mom and a having a career. Qualities of a good pump that I was looking for that Freestyle Flex Pump has: 1. Efficient - able to actually pump milk in a short period of time. The Freestyle emptied my milk but was not as efficient as other pumps. 2. Comfort - very comfortable, the new design of flex silicone flanges are a great idea, makes it easily adaptable to many breast shapes, and doesn't leave an imprint like some other flanges. 3. Portability - small pump able to move around easily, I would say still a handful in size, would still sag your pants if you clip it on. 4. Easy to clean - 4 parts including bottle, which is on par with other pumps 5. Easy to charge - Since it has a USB charger can even bring a portable charger to charge the pump. Qualities that I would like in a pump that Freestyle does't allow me to do: 1. Noise Level - Loud pumping noise, and the pump vibrates while it pumps 2. Public pumping - I could pump at home and walk around with it but would not be able to pump in public as you still need a special handsfree bra where your nipples will still show through. The bottle and flange still stick out and take up a good amount of room. 3. Set up time includes putting on a handsfree bra, lifting whole shirt up, placing flanges in and then pumping, and taking handsfree bra and switching to another bra. This process needs to be streamlined. My ideal pump would allow me slip the pump into my current bra and pump under my shirt covered. I would like to be able to pump in public/at work/going to a movie theater/ out at dinner or lunch with my coworkers because I don't want to be hiding in a room/car or I am running after my toddler so I can't be tied down to a wall. The Freestyle Flex Pump has most of the qualities that I am looking for but honestly there are other pumps that surpass it (even another pump from this same company). I was honestly hoping that there would be a cordless pump that I could pump in public that fits in my bra. I was given this pump to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. This is my honest opinion as I hope this helps other mom's find the pump that fits them best.
getting a lot less milk than with the handheld. and the nipple insert feels off. like if it had the same shape as the handheld one it might be more effective but the suction seems to be a problem too
This is like a first draft product at best. No matter what you do milk is always spilling everywhere. I would say I lose between 1 and 2 oz each time. Then I have to mop the floors, change my clothes, and shower. I loved my Spectra but this is definitely one of the worse breast pumps on the market. Please do not buy this. Cup Design 1) The cups don't sit upright on the counter when you take them off - so you set them down they roll over and the milk spills everywhere. 2) If you lean over (even just a bit) while wearing them milk pours out top because of the way the product holes are aligned. So you really can't walk around or pick up the baby. 3) Because of the way it's designed you cannot see if your nipple is in the center of the tube making it impossible to know if it's properly aligned without taking it off and looking at how the machine is shaping your nipple; but if you so much as touch the product milk goes everywhere. Pump Design 1) You're connected to a cord that must be then worn around your wrist - the cord isn't long enough to pull your shirt down over it so you have to be walking around in just a bra to wear it if you're any taller than 5'0". 2) It's a really, really slow pump - in my Spectra I can get 6 oz in about 12 minutes. With this pump it takes about 30 minutes to get 4 oz even on the highest setting. Which compared to the Spectra HURTS. 3) The unit that attaches to your wrist vibrates like crazy to do the pumping. You cannot set it on the counter as it will vibrate itself off the counter which will disconnect the pump and, again, spill milk everywhere. Of all the babies things I have purchased this was the biggest waste of money. I cannot believe Medela is even selling this. The product designers should be embarrassed. There is no way a mom that has pumped before had anything to do with this design. It feels like it was made by a group of old men that didn't understand breasts.
I bought this a month before my little one arrived in September, I started pumping when she was about 6 weeks old. I do not pump regularly but now that I'm back at work I do need to pump during the day when I'm not breastfeeding. Today I started pumping at a full battery and writhing 12 minutes my pump died. Now my pump is not charging. I'm so incredibly disappointed. Such a waste of money.
