I'm pretty old school, but I wanted to switch to using Amazon Ultra HD and not lose the quality of my old Musical Fidelity amp. Was skeptical, but this amp delivers and makes use so easy. Works great for my Rega P6 too. Couldn't be happier and I'm listening to more music than ever.
Our 2250B finally bit the dust last year. A little research showed that the PM7000N is just what we wanted and more. We needed at least 2 analog inputs, plus a phono input. The internet radio and digital inputs were icing. I started downloading Hi-res FLAC music, and play from a USB thumb drive for fabulous sound.
I'm really enjoying not just the audio quality, but also the convenience and benefits of internet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity. The HEOS app provides plenty of music source options (I'm enjoying TIDAL, iHeartRadio, Pandora, and internet radio).
No problem with this unit after about 7 months of ownership. So people complain about the HEOS app but I haven't had any issues with it. One of my favorite features are the tone controls. Yes I know that sounds strange but I love having the ability to tweak the sound just a little more. Setup was easy and it is a huge step up from the cheap HT piece of equipment I was using. This is a piece of equipment designed for one job and that is delivering a 2.1 sound experience and honestly it excels at that.
I bought the PM7000N because it has AirPlay 2, standby mode, and a reputation for very good sound. It replaces a 15-year old Denon 100W receiver (my wife wouldn't let me put the AR tube amp in the living room) and Airport Express 1 DAC. Speakers are 35-year old Monitor Audio Studio 10s via AQ mid-grade in wall cable. I usually stream Apple Lossless over Ethernet. Wow. My listening experience is like the Sistine Chapel after scrubbing off the chiaroscuro. My enjoyment has remarkably improved. Highs, miss, lows, soundstage, everything is markedly better. My only complaint is that my Velodyne sub now sounds tubby. I strongly recommend this integrated amp. I have also enjoyed the direct stream from Spotify and Amazon Music. I haven't figured out how to get it to work with Alexa voice commands. I probably never will.
I wanted a receiver that would stream tidal at max quality direct and have enough power to drive my KEF ls50s well. I wanted to avoid an outboard DAC and also avoid Bluetooth. This receiver does all that very well. Very happy. My only gripe is the HEOS interface i feel is a little clunky/ counterintuitive. But it does get the job done.
I love this amp. A few times, when I've turned it on and started playing music, I got a little startled because it sounds like the instruments are right next to me. Streaming Ultra HD music sounds better than the CD. I recently discovered that out-of-the-box, this amp gives access to internet radio stations around the world. I'm currently listening to an indie show from Romania. I am 100% satisfied with this amp.
I mainly use my pc to play my music collection or play on Spotify and Tidal. This is perfectly matched with my Fyne301 speaker. Great clarity and vocal expression. Hook up my subwoofer and I can sit with it for a whole day. However, it is not perfect for the following reasons: 1, the volume turn up when you switch from one input to another, to protect your ear and speaker , just lower the volume both on your computer app and the one on PM7000; 2, lack of room correction EQ; 3, lack of USB-DAC connection. This is very important when you need to play and organize whatever you want directly from your pc while using the build in DAC for Hi res audio.If the 3 issues above resolved, that would be 5stars plus!
The PM7000N is a handsome unit with a great features set and plenty of power for driving my inefficient Magneplanars. The DAC is detailed and clear. In my rig, the Marantz's soundstage is not as well-defined as my other amps. The HEOS app works well, but I wish navigating music and finding new music was more intuitive.
Everything was ok. But now, when I was playing with HEOS or with remote control, Picked 1 album ( USB music ) then Play All, but the songs from other album still came next. I haven't known how to fix it yet. Thanks
