I bought this product to help my son with his reading. It has been very helpful and easy to use.
I am very pleased with this Hooked on Phonics 1st Grade. My daughter is excited to do the workbook and her reading has improved tremendously.
We purchased Hooked on Phonics Learn to Read Kindergarten the spring before my son went to Kindergarten. He loved it!!! I was amazed at how well it worked! My little man was reading everything he could get his hands on! He even takes the books in his school bag and reads them on the way home. A month into Kindergarten we finished the Kindergarten box and ordered the 1st grade version. He waited on pins and needles for it to arrive. It was so cute, it arrived on Halloween, so with all the trick or treat excitement we couldn't open it until Sat. morning. He actually wanted to do his first lesson INSTEAD of watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!!!!!!!!!! (This proves how impressive this product is!!!) The only thing I didn't like with the 1st grade program is there was a computer game with the Kindergarten box and not with the 1st grade box. My little guy really liked to play the computer game and I think it helped it all click in his mind. Although he's never even asked about it.
Hooked on Phonics is great! I have used several reading programs for my 5 year old, and Hooked on Phonics is by far the best.
I used the Hooked on Phonics Learn to Read for Kindergarten, and my kids loved it! I recently purchased this First Grade product, and it is just as good. The stories are very entertaining for the kids, and they look forward to it every day. I use it for our homeschool reading and my kids are doing very well.
Although it is a bit over my 4-year-old's abilities right now, I believe in 6 months she will be going through the lessons without any trouble. the presentation of the concepts is interesting enough to keep my attention as well as hers.
