Living in Minnesota I need a shoe to keep my feet warm and dry during the winter. These have been the absolute best shoe for that! I bought them for hiking and plan to wear them on a Grand Canyon trip, but breaking them in while shoveling snow has been fantastic!
I bought a pair from a local sporting goods store and they are amazing! Super light! Super comfortable right out of the box! Construction looks to be very good. These are my first Merrels but I can honestly say they won't be my last! Bravo Merrel!
Cool, crisp Texas winter. Mild by Northern standards. Wore the Merells on a 5-mile hike. Comfortable. Fit like a glove. The GoreTex insulation is a bit of an overkill for Texas. Feet were soaked with perspiration. Next time I'll apply foot powder generously. Highly recommend this shoe. ~ Pat, Kempner, TX.
Over the years have tried many different brands but Merrell's products consistently excel. The Alverstone super comfortable and adaptive to the rugged terrain that we hike (AZ, UT).
Very comfortable right out of the box. Went on a 3 mile hike of dirt and rock to “break-in”. I was not disappointed. Since I have had these boots for about a month I have logged approximately 70 miles hiking. They are standing up to my expectations 100%.
The Alverstone Mid hiking shoes were comfortable from day one, no break-in period. I go on short hikes over hilly terrain and these shoes provide good traction on all surfaces.
Solid hikers. No sign of structural problems and I can wear out cheap shoes in a couple of months. I consider Merrill's to be a wise shoe buying investment.
Love them! I'm a semi truck driver that hauls cars. One of the worst things about my job is that's in most cases I have to walk rail yards and other storage lots to gather up whatever vehicles I'm hauling. Many of these lots are unpaved. This means trekking through mud, snow , shush , water puddles ect. It's nice to get into my truck after loading and having warm dry feet every time. This is my 2nd pair and for me there is no other Choice. You can't beat the comfort or the dependability knowing at least my feet will stay warm and dry while I load in the elements.
This is my second pair of Alverstone hikers. I love the lightness of these boots. They make my Moab boots feel like lead weights. This pair has leather re-enforcement where my other pair gave out. I do miss the lace hooks like those on the older pair. It is harder to keep the lower laces tight while tying them. I ordered a half size larger to accommodate my foot width as the standard size seems to run a bit narrow.
I got a return label so I could send them back because they are not up to the Merrell standards that I have been used to for so many years but I guess I will have to wear them until you bring back a quality shoe that has this cushion heel that I have to have to walk with on a daily basis, nothing else will do the job for me.
