The nightstand comes in a heavy box very securely packed away. The hardware is very neatly arranged in separate, individually labeled pockets of a roll of plastic. It comes with everything, including an Allen wrench and a ball head screwdriver. A screwdriver is a lot easier than the Allen wrench. The nightstand comes with some extra hardware and also some hardware for mounting the furniture to a wall to prevent it tipping over if climbed on. The directions look alittle overwhelming at first, but they're not bad. The diagrams are helpful. The nightstand is a surprisingly heavy, large, solid piece of furniture. All though itis part of the kids collection from Delta, it's an ordinary nightstand that can be used by adults as well as children. A great piece of furnature that will stand up to time.
You cannot beat the quality at this price point! I put the nightstand together within 45min. It is solid and heavy. It comes with three knob choices, wood and two dark metal, but I chose to replace it with brass. I just wish Walmart stocked the matching dresser in the same finish.
I received the Delta Children Cali Nightstand with Drawer and Shelf, Rustic Oak, for free from Walmart Spark Reviewer, in exchange for an honest review of the product. I have reviewed almost 50 products for Walmart Spark Reviewer and they have almost all been of the highest quality. This nightstand is no exception. The main problem for me is that it came unassembled and has to be put together. There is a booklet of detailed instructions that includes pictures of all the parts necessary to assemble the product. Notes of caution, if you purchase this nightstand, make sure to read the directions. It is highly recommended that you do not use a powered screwdriver, as it could damage the product. Honestly tried to put the nightstand together, but was unable to do so. I was never very good at this type of thing, so it was not anything that was wrong with the product, it was me. I matched all the parts and pieces to the pictures in the direction booklet. Everything was there. I have included a couple of pictures of this nightstand unassembled so you can see the quality. My son has been working out of state and since I just moved here, there is no one I can get to help me put this together. I will be so glad to get this put together when he gets home. It is exactly what I need in the bedroom. I love the fact that there is a drawer and a bottom shelf. Now I can put my glasses away in a drawer at night, instead of on top of a table. The bottom shelf is perfect for extra things I might need at night. I would definitely recommend this product. Just make sure you are good at assembling furniture or have some help. First of all when I pulled the pieces out of the box I was impressed at how well everything was packed. Each piece of wood was wrapped in a protective foam sheet and there were pieces of Styrofoam packed into open spaces keeping all the wood in place so it wouldn't shift around. I would expect even if the box gets mistreated during shipping the stand would remain undamaged. This is a solid sturdy all wood piece of furniture. The wood has a textured aged look. It's beautiful. It looks like an expensive piece of high end furniture. I do feel it is a high quality piece of furniture. It looks nice enough that it could be used as an end table in a living room. It has a very nice strong deep drawer and it came with 3 different drawer pulls, 1 wooden and 2 metal knobs so you can select the knob you like best. I've never had that option in put together furniture before. I like it when a company takes an extra step like that for their customers. As far as assembly goes, I was really overwhelmed at first, thinking it was going to be a big project. The instructions were pretty good, everything is labeled. The nice thing about the hardware is everything is in it's own sealed labeled compartment so you don't have to search through a big jumble. That made the job so much easier. It also comes with a special screwdriver and an alan wrench. You will also need a phillips head screwdriver. It took me about 2 hours to assemble but I have mobility issues and I move a little slower than the average person. I would expect that most people could put it together in an hour or less. My biggest nightmare when assembling furniture with a drawer is getting everything lined up perfectly so the drawer slides in and out properly and it looks square. If you've ever put something together with a drawer or drawers you know it can be a challenge. This was the easiest draw install I've ever done, it was so simple and everything lined up perfectly! One more thing, they also included an extra bag of spare hardware in case you drop or lose something. It also comes with a safety strap so you can attach it to a wall to make sure it will not tip over if you're using it in a child's room if they have a tendency to crawl on furniture. I really love this nightstand, I'm so impressed at how it went together and how it looks. I'm very happy to have it.
I was pleasantly surprised with this product. When removing it from the package I noticed that it is not made out of solid wood pieces. Its some kind of MDF type stuff. So I was thinking that this is not going to be very sturdy. I was WRONG. This is a very sturdy table. And it is heavy. Which makes attaching it to the wall with the included hardware a necessity in a child's room. My husband mainly put it together. It took around 45 minutes to do. The pieces are clearly marked as to what they are. The written part of the directions are not the best, but the diagrams are great. It pretty much shows you what to do and how to do it. When it is all put together it is a pretty good sized stand. It stands about 23 1/2" tall, is 24" wide, and 18" deep. With a decent size drawer in it. The interior of the drawer measures 17" side to side, 13 7/8" front to back, and 5" deep. The drawer is on metal runners, so it is easy for children to open and close. And there is a board that goes across under the bottom of the drawer to make it sturdier. Which helps so you don't end up with a sagging drawer bottom when things are put in to it. The opening under the drawer is about 10 3/4" tall. Which could work as a place to put children's books. It has a very nice wood feel and look to it. You can feel the texture of wood on the outside of the pieces. Which makes it seem more like it is a real piece of wood. The color of the wood is a dark stain. With the interior of the drawer being a light stain.
Although this is listed as a DELTA CALI CHILDREN NIGHTSTAND Table/ nightstand can go into ANY room. INCLUDED with the TOOLS and HARDWARE is an bag of EXTRA HARDWARE PIECES. I noticed in the discription of the product that the dimensions were not listed so I will list them . Length. 24" Hight. 24" Width. 18" Drawer. 5". Deep The Delta Cali nightstand is made of heavy wood/construction. I have the dark pine color. It does not match my dark cherry wood bedroom set exactly but, since it is a dark color it blends with my other pieces. I showed it to a friend, she wanted it! Now let's visit the fact that the Delta Cali children nightstand must be assembled. The directions for assembly are pretty good compared to other projects that I have assembled. I was happy to see the side panels with the DRAWER SLIDING MECHANISM were ALREADY ASSEMBLED The drawer slides beautifully, there is also a stop in the drawer that stops the drawer from being pulled out and falling to the floor. I am not sure what the top of the table is made of but, it does reflect a deep grooved wood . Again the table is of heavy construction I like that. The Delta Cali Children Nightstand also has a bottom shelf. I put 2 straw baskets on that shelf for more storage. ( THE BASKETS WERE NOT INCLUDED WITH THE NIGHTSTAND ). I bought the baskets separately. INCLUDED with the Delta Cali Children Nightstand was the directions ( NO NEED TO GO ONLINE AND PRINT PAGE AFTER PAGE USING YOUR INK and paper like OTHER CHEAP COMPANIES DO. ) . I love my new Delta nightstand !!
The pros: result of the piece is nice as it is sturdy and real wood. The cons: three hours between my boyfriend and I to assemble. Based on the prior reviews, i didn't think it would take so long to assemble. The instructions were extremely vague so we basically figured it out on our own. we made a cosmetic error on the piece as a result. My review is go elsewhere. Sorry!
