This has given new life to my quest to become vegan. This is a great substitute for ground beef, something that i use to consume on a regular basis. I recently used this in a plantain lasagna that called for ground beef and it came out out extremely delicious. I will be excited try it in other recipes that would usually have ground beef.
I will NEVER EVER go back to using Ground Beef EVER AGAIN (even if it is VERY lean) for my Home-Made Contest-winning Chili! I add some Mesquite Smoked BBK sauce and add Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies, Cumin & Oregano and other "secret spices" for an incredible flavor in each bite. Served in a bowl with a dollop Sour Cream & Cilantro, no one could believe it did not have any beef in it. No grease nor sticky aftertaste in the palate. Simply delicious and true to your seasoning! TONIGHT I'm experimenting with my Taco Seasonings!
Absolutely love this product! TVP is incredibly versatile and I used it to add extra protein to many recipes. I even add it to my cereal for a little extra crunch!
The BEST tvp!! I've been a vegetarian (not strict) since 1999, and tvp used to be so chunky and gross. I should've tried this! This is SO YUMMY in vegetarian chili! It's perfect for soaking up the water and tomato-veggie-bean mix at the end, right before you simmer it. I also add the “Hemp Heart Seeds” found at Walmart! SO good! And SO MUCH added protein, it's not funny. People that won't eat vegetarian food, don't know what they're missing. My husband and daughter eat meat, but they love my vegetarian food. They love my chili. We top it with shredded cheddar cheese and avocado and saltines. My husband does sour cream on top. Even if you eat meat, you should try to eat some vegetarian. It's better for the animals, the environment, and for your health. AND if you cook it right and put love into it, it's SO DELICIOUS, too!! Mmmmm-Good!! Staple in our home.
I love the excellent chili recipe on the package. I freeze bags of tomatoes every harvest. Using frozen tomatoes provides enough liquid automatically. I always use extra chili seasoning too.
I love it - a great ground meat substitute. It is healthy for you and we are eating lower on the food chain which helps our planet. Healthier planet, healthier you; it's a win-win! Great products! Just added it to make black bean chili!
I love making chick-un nuggets and patties with this. You can use this in so many vegan or vegetarian dishes like chili, spaghetti, stew, soup or even make meatless meatballs. This could actually be used as a binder in real meat dishes like meatloaf if you're trying to cut down on carbs! It's so versatile!
We have successfully used it in turkey chili, tacos, pasta sauce, pretty much anything with ground turkey except for stuff like meatballs. It just takes on the same flavor as what you're cooking and ive always added it with meat, I've never made a meal with it by itself. I have tasted it plain and it doesnt really taste like anything either and the texture when cooked is about the same as cooked ground turkey meat. I haven't used it in anything with ground beef, mostly because we dont normally eat it but im sure it would be good cooked in with it. This is a good price to just buy one to try it out but they can be bought in bulk cheaper on amazon which is what we plan to do next
It's a great product but a LOT cheaper on Amazon.
Product is ok but $19 for a small bag isn't worth it. If it was $6 . .. Maybe but $10. Don't waist your money.
