I have been thinking about a Shark Lift-Away for a long time. Finally bought one and I am very happy with mine. It is light enough for me to carry and it works well on carpet and bare floors. That's what I wanted.
This is an excellent vacuum. It picks up everything off the carpet as well as tile floors with ease. It's also very convenient to take the section of the sweeper off to go and vacuum your steps in your house. I would definitely purchase this again.
I am a great-grandmother and have had many different vacuums and this is the best one I have ever had. With 3 dogs and 3 cats a lot of fur flies and this picks it all up. In fact I am afraid that if it got too close to one of them I would have to rename it baldy.
I purchased this vacuum after my previous vacuum (a different brand) had broken. I was excited to purchase this particular Shark because it had a lift away feature, swivel head and had a high rating for pick up on hardwood floors AND carpet. When I received it, I couldn't wait to get it out of the box. It was VERY easy to put together. I did it myself in 10 minutes. It was also surprisingly light weight which I loved and very affordable. I can pick it up and move it around without hardly any effort, a plus because of a bad back. I babysit my 16 month old grandson each day and have hardwood floors with large area rugs. Cheerios, crackers and everything else thrown or dropped on the floor were cleaned up in a snap with the Shark Lift Away. The swivel head makes it easy to get under the edge of chairs and the couch. If I need to go under the couch I can just pull the hose out, attach the hose extension and vacuum head and go fully under anything. I would recommend this vacuum. You won't be sorry with this purchase.
The wife wanted a lightweight vacuum and this was recommended as a best buy on consumer reports for a lightweight. Since the house is 2200 sq feet I was concerned about the smaller head size as compared to heavier vacs. no need, this one is a power house. Turn the brush head on for carpets and it does a great job. Turn the brush head off for the hardwood floor and tile and you are done vacuuming in minutes. Some complaints I read on Amazon about tipping over when using attachments; I have not had this problem. Overall, very pleased and highly recommend this vacuum - if you are looking for a lightweight easy to use vacuum.
Absolutely the best Shark for the money. This is my fourth Shark %26 I am back to basics. I researched Sharks on You Tube %26 the 300 series has the best reviews from the repair folks. I believe you can still get inside the thing to replace the roller if needed, will just need to buy a couple unusual screwdrivers. This machine is relatively lightweight and is very easy to maneuver. While it is not quiet, at least the cat didn't run for cover like he does with the Shark Vertex. The cord is a good length, easy enough to move the plug one time in my apartment to get all the floors done. I like the ease of changing the suction from bare floors to carpet and also the ease of adjusting the amount of suction used for carpets. And, least I forget, the Shark Vertex attachments ALL fit this vac. They may be a teensy bit looser but they don't fall off so at least I can use them for more than the Vertex. Yay! Unless you have a specific need for one of the expensive models, I'd suggest you go with this one. Shark is making it impossible for their vacs to be repaired, they apparently want to fill up the landfills with their vacs. Most of the parts can't be replaced nor can the vacs be opened up for repairs, Shark does not make repair parts. Very poor business practice in my opinion but I suppose it will eventually come back to bite them. When the no-hair-wrap fins of the Vertex started to tear off the roller I couldn't just buy the roller, I had to buy a costly (think over $100) replacement piece that contained the roller. Never again.
This vacuum sucks! I am talking serious suction power! I think it almost has as much suction power as my Shop Vac. I was very impressed with the performance of this vacuum. The brush tool is my best friend. I could not believe how good my lamp shades looked when I was done. And let's talk about the cat hair I sucked up off my couch! Amazing!
I've only used it a few times but so far it performs well. Good suction especially on carpet. Performance on bare floors is OK. Have to go over area the has lots of crumbs several times. It's lightweight which I like because I have to take it up and down stairs. Disadvantages: The dust container is quite small and has to be emptied often, no light, also would like it if it went from bare floor to carpet automatically without having to switch it. All in all I think it's a good vacuum for the money.
This vacuum cleans carpets incredibly well. In fact, makes them look new again. The canister is big enough to do 2-3 rooms before stopping for me. I vacuum every 3 days since I have a dog, cat and an asthmatic husband. It really has helped our allergies/asthma. The vacuum itself works very well. Even when the canister is full, I still have full suction. It is a little hard to push on carpets, if you have wrist problems this isn't for you. Assembly was a breeze, I didn't need the instructions. Now for the bad... the cord is very short. I have to switch outlets often. Also the hose is so short and is attached to an awkward plastic handle that makes its nearly impossible to use with the tools (see pic). When using the extension piece with the tools you have to completely unwind and remove the cord to use and the piece is heavy and awkward to use. I have several furniture pieces that I need to get under and the detachable hose is too short to use and the main vacuum head is too big to fit. Even when detaching the canister from the main unit I can't get everything without a workout. Also, the lift away unit falls constantly while using the tools (I need both hands to use the awkward extension attachment), probably due to the short hose. The "dust away attachment" is unnecessary because the vacuum itself picks up everything. The brush attachment itself is awesome. It picks up pet hair really well. The filters will need rinsing frequently, they get really dirty quick. Also, emptying the canister requires you to squeeze your hand into spaces where hair is stuck (see pic). This makes for a messy clean up that requires more vacuuming after you think you're finished vacuuming. I will be returning this to get the NV22L model with the longer hose.
I wish I could give this ZERO stars. How in the world is this one of the highest rated/best vacuums for pet owners? The fact they show a husky on the box is an even bigger insult (joke?). This thing doesn't pick up dog fur - it pushes it around. After one use, the brush was loaded. Despite cleaning it out, it never picked up fur again. This was after 30 minutes of use, vacuuming 2 rooms (area rugs). To make matters worse, the plastic tab that connects the hose to the tank was broke, hanging by a thread when I unwrapped it out of the box. I will be returning this after the holiday. I wouldn't pay $20 for this garbage let alone $200. These photos show the dog hair AFTER vacuuming. Notice how empty the tank is %26 how much fur is left on the floor.
