I really couldn't open the door on some days. The old kind you had were easier as you squeezed and the inside of the knob cover was sticky and contacted the door. A toddler's hands wouldn't be big enough to grip the knob tightly enough to open it but an adult could.
I can open other brands of door knob covers that are the same set-up but not these. After watching videos ad nauseum I was no better off than I'd started
Can't even open it to put it on the door knob without the snaps that are supposed to keep it closed breaking off. Don't waste your money.

Why! Why does one of the single most important things you can do to keep your child safe- ("baby/toddler proofing") have to made to be so difficult! I can't even open/separate these "Parent Grip Door Knob Covers" to actually get them into "two separate halves" and then install them on my door knobs. I have literally been trying for 3 weeks!! As a single mother, I have no other "strength" than that of my own to attempt to open these- and it is impossible. They literally do not open, so that you are subsequently able to install them. Beyond frustrated with this seeming useless product. Waste of money- time and energy! Do not buy!
TERRIBLE !! Does not fit standard knobs as mentioned. It only fits the old style knobs used many many years ago. The current standard knobs are rounded and this does not fit. Waste of money.
The product is cheaply made. Separating the locks is impossible and I question the poor design. Do not waste your money. The online tutorial does not address the problem as how to separate the covers into two halves is not visible. How frustrating.
