Exactly what I needed to use my old VGA desktop monitor with my new laptop that has only an HDMI connection!
It works great for the purpose intended.
Bought this device to hook my Lenovo 2 in 1 Yoga to a projector. Just plugged it in and it allowed me to demonstrate, using the computer, a complex subject. HDMI to VGA conversion can be iffy if you get the wrong converter. A lot of them require a power source (which is really inconvenient) this one does not need outside power.
Purchased this item for my HP Envy 19 Laptop. Laptop only had a HDMI connection and my monitor only had a VGA connection. Didn't want to buy a new monitor so gave this a try. It connected with no issue and works great. Highly recommend this item.
This product worked great to transmit video to my monitor from my laptop. However, I also needed to be able to hear sounds from my computer too. Apparently when I hook anything up to my HDMI port, my computer automatically thinks that the other device will have sound as well and there isn't any way for me to make anything else work. Well, this particular product does NOT support audio. This only turns the digital signal into analog. I would recommend getting a device that also has an audio jack. I returned this product and bought one that would work.
Worked fine had No problem. I am not sure these devices are so expensive. They are just plastic and metal. This one was on clearance go figure.
This is a passive connector to link my laptop HDMI connection to a projector using a female VGA connector. No active components. It works as advertised, but it took an excessive time to get from Walmart.com to my local store. Don't know where it came from, and I know that this isn't a common item, but in my opinion it should be more readily available.
Converter works fine to connect laptop to a secondary viewing monitor. You can drag viewing screens from the laptop monitor to the secondary monitor, and back if you wish. The only drawback is that, when connected to the secondary monitor, the system always assumes any sound will come from the secondary VGA monitor. In this case, there is no sound from the VGA monitor, so you lose the sound that would normally be produced by the laptop speakers. If you want this sound, you need a different converter that also provides auxiliary speaker connections.
Bought it to watch blu-rays from player on VGA LCD, but the screen output is just video black, no image.
