We (4 adults and 1child) enjoyed the Fiesta Chicken Slow Cooker seasoning mix. It was so easy to fix. I was a little late starting it so I cooked 1 hour on high and 5 hours on low, even starting with frozen chicken breasts. I prepared it just as the package suggested over rice, except using a quart of home canned tomatoes. It was not overly spicy. It was plenty with enough for leftovers later, but if I needed to extend for more servings, I would add another can of corn and, or black beans.
If you have a Crock Pot or a Slow Cooker hang on because McCormick has the seasoning mixes for you. You know when you set up your crock pot for a meal then when it's finished,it comes out watered down and tasting bland? Got your answer right here. McCormick has a series of seasoning mixes just for Slow Cookers. The Fiesta chicken is our subject here. The package comes with a list of ingredients, suggested toppings, super easy directions along with a suggested serving on the back. This is a southwestern recipe that has been served for years in one form or another. With this season mix,it makes it easier to serve it often. I set mine in the cooker on low at 8 hours. When done,I opened the lid and the room filled with the aroma of my soon to be dinner. I tasted it to see if it would need any adjustments in seasoning and it was a surprised to find that it tasted as I had just made it. No watered down taste and I didn't have to add so much as a pinch of salt or anything else. McCormick has a winner here, and I will make room in the cupboard for it and I hope many other recipes.
I really enjoyed this product i live alone so do not make anything i have to eat for days . I have been using a product that is frozen with the roasted corn tomatoes onions black beans in it so i usually cook four chicken thighs in a slow pan this is great to use for these products you make in a hurry i took 2 thighs already cooked cut up some cherry tomatoes poured the roasted corn combined over it added the spices and water and put the lid on for a slow cook . Removed the bone from the thigh. this was enough for three people as i had it for three meals it was so great and i will keep this on hand for quick meals loved it a taste everyone is going for, just spicy enough without the bad burn i really enjoyed this and will continue with it
I use a lot of the McCormick seasonings, however, this is the first time I have ever used their seasoning in a slow cooker with chicken. What a pleasant surprise!! I just followed the recipe and instructions on the back by mixing 2 lbs of chicken , 2 cans of tomatoes, 1 can of corn and 1 can of black beans ( optional), and the Fiesta Chicken seasoning mix, then turned the slow cooker on low for 8 hours (or you can do high for 4 hours) and went to work. When I cam home, it was all done! You can shred the chicken when done or not. I served it with refried beans on the side and rice, but it is really a meal in itself and will feed a family of 5 - 6 people easily. Great on the budget! The best part is how easy it is to use it and how great it tastes. I will probably start making this at least once a week because everyone liked it and it is so easy to make. I also like the packaging because it is easy to store ( small) and has a long shelf life. Spices in packet are just right for the recipe and I imagine if you are an inventive cook, there are many other dishes you could make with this seasoning. I would highly recommend this product.
We are avid users of the crock pot / slow cookers meals, as we have a very busy work and play schedule. It is easy to prepare and always comes out perfect. When using the Fiesta Chicken Mix, we add an addition can of Spicy Diced Tomatoes and one can of water; it spices it up just a bit more to our liking. Make sure you remove all fat from the chicken. With this recipe, we change up the serving method. Once we are ready to serve this dish up, we warm up some burrito wraps, then strain the mix. We serve the bulk in the burritos; we top off the burritos with guacamole or sour cream and shredded cheese. The strained liquid is served in a cup, as a broth, topped with few crunched pita chips; we use Town House Pita Chips. Now you have a great, healthy meal, with minimal prep and cleanup time!
I used the McCormack Slow Cookers Fiesta Chicken Seasoning mix today to make the recipe on the back of the envelope. I poured the recipe over brown rice. It was very good. I liked it. It has some heat from the spices, but is not overwhelming. Recommend this mix and hope there will also be other flavor combinations. Definitely will buy in the future.
We love slow cooker meals and this one sounded like it would be a winner. Quick and easy to prepare and ready when you get home from work! What else can you ask for? The flavor was spot on. Not too mild, but not too hot. You can always drop in a little heat if you like. We followed the recipe precisely. Unfortunately, while the flavor was great, following recipe ended up up producing something a little too watery. Next time around, I think we will drop in some rice to absorb some of the liquid. Using fresh instead of the canned veggies called for in the recipe would also help. We'll be adding this to both our home pantry and to our camp chuck box (this will be perfect for use in a Dutch oven at camp).
I put this together in less than 15 minutes. The directions were so easy to read and follow. It was a real surprise that the cooked product turned out as good as it did. It looked just like the picture and tasted great. I used instant rice and cut my cooking, standing at the stove time to almost zero. I kind of laughed at the part of the directions where it said to shred the chicken with two forks, but it worked out just fine that way. The chicken was really that tender and didn't taste dried out at all. You can add a few finishing touches, like green onions, sour cream, etc. (optional), also in the directions, depending on your tastes, but I just served it on the rice and everyone said they loved it.
I HAD MY DOUBTS WHEN FIXING THIS, BUT HAD IT FOR DINNER TONIGHT. YOU CAN MAKE BURRITOS WITH IT, USE IT FOR A DIP WITH CHIPS AT A PARTY OR JUST EAT IT OUT OF A BOWL. DIDN'T TRY IT ON RICE BUT I AM SURE IT WOULD BE GOOD. I AM A VERY FINICKY EATER BUT I LIKED THIS. HUSBAND DID NOT. I MADE IT WITH CHICKEN BUT I AM SURE YOU COULD MAKE IT WITH SHREDDED BEEF AS WELL. I AM A CHICKEN PERSON AND HUSBAND IS A BEEF PERSON. HE SAID HE WOULD EAT IT AGAIN. IT IS QUICK AND EASY TO FIX. WE PUT IT IN A BOWL AND USED TORTILLA CHIPS ALONG WITH IT. IF YOU WANT IT A LITTLE MORE SPICY, YOU COULD USE MEXICAN STEWED TOMATOES INSTEAD OF DICED TOMATOES, OR JUST ADD A LITTLE SALSA TO TASTE. ADD CHEESE OR SOUR CREAM. WHAT EVER YOU WOULD LIKE TO GARNISH IT WITH. I WILL BE EATING THE LEFT OVERS AS I LIKED IT!!
This is the first time I have used a seasoning packet in my crock pot. It was very simple and only called for a few ingredients. I used frozen chicken tenders. I did not add the corn because I don't like corn. I used one can of Mexican diced tomatoes, and one can of plain. I was a little disappointed with the outcome, because it seemed to be lacking a little in flavor. Although it did have a nice mild spiciness to it. I probably won’t make it again. I will definitely be trying other McCormick slow cooker seasoning packets though
