To be able to slide the battery in and immediately go to work cutting is great. No pull starts and fuel and fumes, just powerful cutting where you need it. I used this to trim several trees and the only issue I had was the chain was not tight enough, so I had to put it back on. Make sure you check before use and you won't have this problem. I let a buddy borrow it and he loved it so much he said he was going to get one since he couldn't get his gas one to even start!
This chainsaw is amazing. I own both a 16" Stihl and a 16" Homelite Chainsaw. This battery powered Greenworks is as powerful if not more powerful as both of those gas powered. The convenience of no gas and oil mixture to carry around and spill and pull starting just makes this the best buy I have ever made. I recommend this 80V chainsaw to everyone.
I bought this chainsaw several weeks ago and it has been great! Uses the same battery as my other GreenWorks tools through a 10" diameter log with ease. Love the fact that I don't have to deal with gas and oil anymore (except chain oil). So far the cutting will last past the time it takes to charge my second battery.
I am 72,this is my 4th 80v tool. No longer am I tugging a gas can or pulling a cord with hope the saw will turn over. It`s lighter than a gas machine, quieter, does not smell, and the safety features are well thought out. With 2 batteries I have a term limit of use, but that `s ok because I don`t mind resting between charges. This machine keeps me active and doing something positive. I love it as I do all my Greenworks machines. Sincerely, Bill
I've been using this chainsaw for a few weeks now and have been very pleased. I have two acres and have used it to take down small trees and some pines that were damaged or killed during hurricane Micheal three years ago. It's powerful and gets the job done. I would recommend two batteries for anything more than an acre.
I love the ease-of-use of electric. I don't use a chainsaw very much, but when I need it, I really need it (think hurricanes). So not having to clean the carburetor because I forgot to run the gas out, or change a fowled spark plug, is a big deal. To just grab it once every 3 months, glance at the chain oil level (visible through clear tank), press the power button, and GO, and have it work instantly, is magical. Plus it has plenty of torque to do the job. And with two 80 volt batteries (which I also use on my other electric tools), I always have enough power. The motor is louder than I thought it would be, but still quieter than gas equivalent saws. Also, it is hugely less polluting than gas.
I normally try to saw limbs and prune by hand but after a storm left me with a mountain of large broken limbs and trees I needed a chainsaw. I already have the 80V Greenworks lawn mower which I love so it seemed logical to get the chainsaw. It's plenty powerful. I sliced thru some 12 - 16" diameter trunks and limbs with no problem. The chain is low kickback which I guess isn't as aggressive?? I had to readjust the bar a couple times within the first hour of use because of chain slack - not sure if that is normal or not. After about 2 hours of use I resharpened the chain - but I also used it to remove a stump and was cutting into roots. Time will tell how durable but it is convenient to just plug a battery in and go. Weight is similar to gas chain saw of the same size.
Excellent power and it feels very solid built. Very easy to maintain so far. I moved from 40 V to 80 V and the change worked very well for me. The cutting speed is also great.
Long battery life. Keep screwdriver handy to tighten chain frequently. Sawed through 14" branch, 13" trunk, many 8" buckthorns.
I like the power , the quick start , stop operation . I like the ease of the battery power , no messing with two cycle engine . But after a half hour of operation the chain pops off the bar from cutting branches, even if the correct tension is on the chain !! I've cut down an estimated 200 trees every year for the past 20 years, so I'm experienced at operating a chainsaw , but keeping the chain on the bar is very difficult with this saw !!
