New from Gold Tone, the BC-350 is a fine banjo in the traditional style, crafted for the preferences of banjo virtuoso Bob Carlin. At the IBMA show, Bob Carlin and Gold Tone owner Wayne Rogers met to discuss the possibilities of a signature model 12-inch banjo. The basic features requested by Carlin Bob were a 12" pot, scooped fingerboard, specific neck dimensions and a brass tone ring. These features were previously found only on banjos retailing for $1200 or above. Carlin personally made a trip to the Gold Tone factory in Florida for the design. For two days, Wayne and Bob discussed every possible spec and tested prototypes. Every detail was fine tuned. In order to complete the project, Gold Tone would invest in all new 12-inch tooling (a significant expense) to assure perfectly-fitted parts. Every instrument receives a 12 point set-up and is thoroughly inspected before shipment.
