Wanted to find a cost effective, non-permanent way to raise the height of the master bath toilet to accommodate my arthritic knees. This product met my needs and allowed for the continued use and benefit of the toilet seat. In fact, the seat is slightly higher than ADA toilet in my powder room. Very pleased with this item.
This toilet seat adds needed height and makes it so easy to sit on and get up from. Product works great because it fits under your regular toilet seat. It requires your toilet seat to have screw holes so that you can use the provided screws to attach it. The toilet seats that are "easy turn and lock" do not work with this. I had the wrong kind but went out and bought the kind with screws and it works fantastic. Does not move and is very sturdy. So nice to be able to close the lid and sit on regular seat. Great product for a great price. Makes a world of a difference for people who have trouble getting back up from low places.
My daughter had total hip replacement surgery and needed this for recovery It has worked great in the guest bath. I was able to replace the top toilet seat and cover so when occasional guests come it is not that noticeable. For the price it has worked out just great we did have to go to the hardware store and get 2 washers for 26 cents to put together.
This is just what I needed , I have arthritis in both knees. This raised toilet seat makes it easier for me to get up and down.
I got this for my mother but I had years ago gotten one for a too low seat in my house. If you need a higher toilet seat temporarily or don't want the expense of buying and installing a taller toilet, then this is what you want. The removeables have the risk of falling off and they are harder to clean. This riser comes with two long metal bolts and wing nuts. (Loses a star because they really need washers. I used the plastic washers from the short mounting bolts from the toilet seat already on the toilet.) You remove the seat, place the riser on the bowl, put the seat on top of the riser, and bolt them all together with the long bolts and wing nuts. The riser is bolted on so it isn't going to fall off like the removable ones can. You sit on the regular toilet seat. The opening is as big as the bowl opening so access is the same for reaching in. The best thing is that cleaning is so easy. You don't have to remove anything. Just put the seat up and brush and wipe as you did before. You can get these in round or elongated to match your bowl shape. Everyone can use the toilet just as before. My mom loves this. She is 86 and wants to stay in her home as long as possible. She has lots of arthritis and osteoporosis so we are always afraid of a fall. Things need to be solid so if she gets a little off balance she can grab or lean against walls, furniture, or hand holds. The removeable one she had was just not secure and it was a little too high and was really uncomfortable to sit on. This adds 3.5 inches plus about 1.25 inches for the seat. And you can use whatever seat is comfortable for you. I think there may be a version of this with sort of chair arms. This is okay if the person isn't too large to fit between the arms, there is enought space in front of the toilet for a frontal approach, and no other larger persons will be using the toilet. If the area of your toilet is cramped but the person needs something to grab sitting down and getting up, then you may be better with this simple riser and mounting a grab bar on the wall.
Had to replace my 91 year old mother's toilet recently. Somehow she had a toilet that was 18 inches tall (just the base not including the seat). Most ADA toilets now are 16.5 inches. She has bad knees and is tall and that 1.5 inches made a difference to her. I ordered the Carex Toilet Seat based on good reviews to raise the seat. What I didn't know is that many new toilets come with quick disconnect toilet seats (for ease of cleaning), they do not have bolts that run all the way through, they use a clamp on method to attach the seat to the toilet. This booster is designed for the old style toilet seats, it will not work with the quick disconnect seats. I had to buy a new (old style) toilet seat to use with this booster. It works fine now but be aware of the new type toilet seats, I had never seen one before. The new style must be common, most of the ones at the hardware store were the new style and I had to search for a plain old toilet seat.
We purchased this to use after hip replacement surgery. Our toilet seat height was not quite 16". This was easy to install. We are happy with our purchase and would recommend it. It fit tightly. My husband is 250 lbs. We chose the one without sides as we read reviews that the sides get in the way. We are glad we bought this one.
took away 1 star for the flimsy plastic washers, and another for lack of installation instructions. a trip to the hardware store for 2 large metal washers and we were in business. my moms dementia and bad knees made it difficult for her to sit and stand from the toilet, and our small size bathroom made it impossible for someone to give much help. by raising the toilet seat, she is able to sit and stand on her own. there were ZERO instructions in the box. the box photo shows the riser under the existing seat, but with the length of the bolts, we had to remove the existing seat completely, and just use the raiser. this was hard to get used to, as we are a family that closes the toilet lid when not in use. it comes in round or oval shapes for different shaped toilets, but still dosent fit our oval toilet very well. however, it does have a wide opening, which was different than the other brands, and was key in making our final decision on which riser to buy. the 3 1/2 inch lift is perfect to give mom the assist she needs. any taller, and she wouldnt have been able to keep her feet on the ground. its not perfect, but does its intended job with alittle adjustment ingenuity.
This item does Not fit like it is advertised,it leaves about 1 inch space looks terrible. A waste of money as you can not return this item. Very disappointed.
Needed it to raise the seat up a bit, be careful as you cant tighten too much or the front end will left up. Not a design flaw, just what happnes when you have to tighten the back down. Would not recommend for constant use.
