The Marantz PM-10 integrated amplifier is constructed to accommodate a separate preamp and pair of monobloc power amplifiers in a well-constructed chassis, for maximum performance and a dynamic sound quality. In the PM-10, the bridged amplifiers in the power output stage (four amplifier channels) allows greater control of your connected stereo loudspeakers. It delivers 2x200W into an 8ohm load (or 2 x 400W at 4 ohms), and ensures not just the power to drive big, power-hungry loudspeakers to high levels while keeping the sound detailed and distortion-free, but also the grip to make sure those speakers work to deliver the best performance. Featuring discrete circuit components, the PM-10 incorporates the latest-generation HDAM SA3 for the fastest possible response to demands for high current and the widest possible frequency. This integrated amplifier has two sets of balanced XLR inputs, plus four sets of conventional unbalanced RCA line-level inputs (includes a phono input), A & B speaker outputs and a headphone jack that allow you to play music from a variety of audio sources. Featuring maximum configuration flexibility, it can be configured as a conventional stereo integrated amplifier, or set up with another PM-10 as a dual component four channel configuration for bi-amp operation, and it can also be paired with an AV pre-amp and used as a stereo power amplifier via the Power Amp Direct inputs.

I've had this and the matching SA10 for about a year and I must say that I'm hugely impressed with both items. The amp is incredibly powerful and has driven Bowers and Wilkins, Martin Logan Motion series, and finally Martin Logan Impressions with no hiccups. Dynamics are clean, bass is powerful and present, and imaging is rock solid. The only gripes I have with it are that the porthole display is really hard to see from more than 8 feet back and it's a bear to try to set it up for home theater pass through.
Have had this unit for six months powering a pair of Martin Logan Classic's.
The Marantz PM-10 is an incredible "bargain" when it comes to the world of summit-fi even though it's long past the point of diminishing returns. The PM-10 holds its own against even products from Accuphase, Boulder, and Classé and laboratory darlings like Benchmark and Topping. First, there are four weakness of the PM-10 which Marantz should address in the next iteration. 1) No pre-amp output (for a subwoofer) 2) No balanced input for power-amp direct 3) No 12V trigger or RS232 4) Limited phono loading adjustments. The PM-10 was advertised as being a control amp and pair of monoblock amplifiers (and a phono stage) in a single box. What it does even better is simplify the need from having multiple systems. Laboratory grade amplifiers sound stunning provided you are listening to master recordings and you stay within the power envelope. For a small jazz ensemble, laboratory grade setups are great. The PM-10 essentially matches that performance but adds a lot of additional power reserve which is critical for classical music. The problem with laboratory grade amplifiers is that paradoxically, the most accurate vocals should sound like it's coming from a thin and small soundstage -- after all, the human mouth is only so wide and so deep. With the PM-10, there must mathematically be some sort of euphonic coloration or "sound master tuning" that helps make voices sound just a bit larger than life but without losing any of the subjective neutrality or detail. There is imaging galore -- but voices never sound thin. This is what makes the PM-10 a luxury value even at its asking price. Instead of having a few different audio systems where certain music sounds better on one system but different music sounds better on the other system what the Marantz PM-10 does is get you to 95% of the very best, but in all domains. Master recordings on the PM-10 reward the listener in the same way laboratory grade equipment can, but average recordings with wonderful musical content are still wonderful on the PM-10 whereas they can be unenjoyable on other gear. I won't claim that the PM-10 is better than a premium 300B tube amp for every piece of content, or that the PM-10 is going to measure better than a laboratory grade amplifier in every test metric. But what the PM-10 does is stop you from having to switch systems depending on the musical content. In that regard, it can help audiophiles not just consolidate a pre-amp and pair of power amps into a single box, but also consolidate multiple listening setups into one. That is why it's a "bargain" at its asking price. I'll be the first to say that the Model 40n is a much better value for a made in Japan Marantz product and the 40n is well past the point of diminishing returns -- but luxury is about rewarding your hard work and spending a lot more to get that last bit of performance out, and reducing the space wasted on "gear" is a truly unique strength of the PM-10. The PM-10 is really about the quality of the music and not about how esoteric it was to order, or how exotic the chassis craftsmanship is. If you're considering audio equipment at this price point and you're prioritizing sound over "bragging rights", the PM-10 should be on your short list.
Perfect sound, processing, just an amazing amplifier.
