I was very pleased with the finished product. It compliments my decor with the appearance and style of a more expensive piece of furniture. I would certainly recommend to a friend.
We just purchased 3 of these. Yes, they do take some time to put together. However, given the price and quality look of the finished product, they are certainly worth the money and effort. My husband put them together entirely on his own, given that I am 8 months pregnant, but now the bookcases are beautiful. We are planning on purchasing 2 more for another area in our home in the very near future.
I love my bookshelf. It only took me 3 days to recieve my item onced shipped. I love the color. Plus the bookshelf is sturdy.
Instructions are very detailed, but it still took over an hour to put together. A tip that we learned...put the shelves in first and then adjust the edging. It made it easier than going back and forth doing little adjustments. We are very pleased with this product.
Easy to assemble. Liked the easy to follow instructions and online video. Requires regular household tools. I didn't need help. One person can get the job done. Family seeing them said they look expensive. I bought two and joined them together with the enclosed attachment that joins two units across the top. I didn't like they are made partly from particle board, but like the MDF mouldings.
These bookcases have an attractive look at a great price. Most of the bookcase is made of a dense particle board. I was able to weigh several pieces and considering their volume, I calculated the density was 42-46 lbs/Per square foot. So this is "commercial grade", which makes it the stronger, more water resistant, and longer lasting type or particle board - not the cheap 20lbs/psf stuff that falls apart in a year. However, these bookcase are also held together by even stronger, MDF moldings, which also act as the beautiful crowning. They are very sturdy. I have a feeling this thing will last many years.
It's not easy to set up, but looking nice though we haven't put all pieces. The quality is not good. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The assembled sample in the store looked great. Brought this home and took hours to assemble. The parts do not fit together well and cheap back does not properly fit dimensions of the bookcase so that parts of the back stick out on one side and you can see through the back on the other side. No matter how the back was turned it still did not fit well. Cannot tighten screws so that all parts fit together solidly. Would not have bought this had I known. Will keep until I can find and afford a better, more expensive bookcase.
When I opened the package for the bookcase it was broken in two... I'm so upset because I was so looking forward to putting it up.. I will return the item to walmart
My husband, an avid movie collector, usually purchases the cheap thirty dollar bookcases from walmart and they serve their purpose just fine. We usually need 5 or 6 of them to hold his movies. We just moved into a new home and decided to splurge and purchase more expensive, better looking shelves. These shelves are a hundred bucks more and are LITERALLY the same thing, but with fancy flashing on the front. Please do not be fooled because the flashing isn't even cut correctly and it leaves gaps everywhere, so it is basically a waste of money for a frustrating added feature. I've circled the problem areas. We bought 3 shelves to start off with and all 3 of them have the same problem, giant gaps where they are supposed to be flush. I absolutely love putting things together. I've been building, and assembling since I could hold a hammer. One of these took me over 2 hours to put together. The instructions are fine, but because of the gaps, I kept questioning myself. Then there is the issue of the vertical flashing. There are no pilot holes in the pressed wood. Therefore you have to hold it in place (upside down) and mark where you need to drill a pilot hole. I found that their cheap "furniture marker" worked well for this. Many of the screws have to be screwed in where you have no room for your hands, or your arm to get any sort of torque. If you are thinking about bookshelves, look elsewhere. Unless you don't mind over 2 hours of frustration and gaps everywhere.
