I bought these for my grandson and had them shipped to him so I never directly saw them. He told me he loves them and they are quite comfortable. We will see how well they wear. He has only had them for a week, so it is too soon to tell.
Bought these boots to give them a try since they were so cheap. Wanted to replace my wide boots for something a little more narrow. These boots are surprisingly decent quality! High ankle support and feels strong. Also, feels like good rubber on them too. Pleasantly surprised with the quality for the price. I would just say that you should prob buy an insert for comfortability since they are lacking a little in that area. But cheap china boot that actually isnt bad!
I walked across England and most of Europe wearing a pair of these hiking boots. I have had nothing but positive experiences with this product and will continue to be a loyal customer as long as the boots are available.
Good quality footwear only thing I did was put a insole in ( which I got at Walmart) and it's a great walking boot just working outside a thumbs up.
Cheap $$$$ AND awesome !!!! I read reviews before I bought noting that some person or another had walked great distances with these..... Thank You, I get it. My feet are gonna love these even if they seem a little roomy... and my gel (inexpensive) inserts made the fit PERFECT! SO glad to have found these thanks to personal reviews that got me to try these from the OZARK TRAIL line.
For the price of Ozark Trail Red Lace Hiking Boots how can you go wrong. Here's one person's opinion. Live in New England where's there's rocks and roots on the trail so a stiffer boot is required. This is stiff but not to stiff, and suede boots are lighter but seem to fall apart quickly . Drier conditions probably don't require that. First off 3 of the 6 laces on each of the boot side are speed hooks, so easy on, easy off. Uppers are man made leather look alike material. Yes they run a little large, but with a 1/4 gel insert they fit great, or order 1/2 size smaller without any inserts. First time out my heel was coming out of the boot while climbing hills, but now they're broken in that's no longer a problem. Laces are top quality, and more than long enough. Remove laces and snow seal with hair dryer right out of the box if you want to seal out any water. Great traction, under 30 bucks and great ankle support.
Comfortable, but the heal tread wears out extremely fast. The upper and inside parts still look almost like new. Probably why they are so inexpensive. I would be willing to pay more if they would put on a more durable tread.
Horrible boots!!!! Ordered in March, feel apart by the end of April, spent more on insuls the I payed for the boots! Save your money
Absolutely do NOT purchase these boots if you're expecting any type of durability.Theyre listed as hiking, not work, boots so I expected them to be somewhat less durable than a work boot, but wow.The outsole began separating after 3 months and not only was I NOT working in them, but I also was NOT hiking in them either, which would have been rougher than general everyday wear.I just wore them to do everyday tasks like going to the grocery or convenience store or walking my dog to do his business,so undue stress was NOT placed on them at all.Another review mentioned the glue that retains the outsole to the boot, once wet a few times, allowed the sole to pull completely off and thats what happened to mine.Until new boots arrive that I ordered,Ive had to use a pneumatic nail gun to literally nail the foot bed (bottom portion of the boot) to the sole to just keep them together for a few more days,as you'll notice if looking closely at the images I posted. To top it off,the entire foot bed has rotted away from getting wet, too. If it wouldn't have been for this issue and the sole coming loose, these would have been a good pair of inexpensive boots, but it ruined them for me.They are decently lite weight, comfortable if you add a gel insert,a decent looking boot,fast/easy to put on and have a quick break-in.If the bottom would have been sewed to a thick/sturdy insole and the sole attached using a durable means (like the super thick thread thats in the sides of the sole) these boots would have likely held up for a year or two..........
The boots run a bit large. Okay, if you add heavy socks. The tongue is only stitched at the bottom. I have to stop what I'm doing way too often to remove sand and stones. That said, you can expect wet socks from walking in wet grass. The lowest speed hook, on each side, should have been an eyelet. The laces thread through the tongue there. It is time consuming trying to rehook the laces on the lowest hook. The laces might look nice, but they're too big to be functional. It takes too much force to tighten the laces. The speed hooks bend too easily. They are attached with two rivets, which helps. Standard boot laces help too. These boots are okay for outdoor work, but they're not comfortable enough, nor designed for hiking. My last pair of Ozark hikers (different style-very comfortable) only lasted a week before the soles fell off. I purchased these on line based on reviews, and I needed something inexpensive to get by. I would not recommend these for hiking.
