2nd smartphone and truly love this phone. only problem is having to constantly check to see what apps are running and turn them off. battery dies pretty quick so have to charge every night.
love this phone !!! takes alittle getting use to but after you get use to it and learn it, its great.would recommend this phone to anyone looking to buy a cheap but good android phone and the plan makes it twice as nice from straight talk.
i absoultey love this phone its better signal than what i had before and i love the android market all the free apps they have so many cool live wallpapers also such a great phone love it
Bought 2 of these phones about a month ago. They are absolutely worth the money. We are early 60's and just caught up with the 21st century cellphone technology. We had been with Verizon for so many years and were just throwing money away monthly for just talk only, so we crossed over to Straight Talk. It saves us about $60 per month for the 2 phones and that is with us using the unlimited everything $45 a month plan...the only plan you can use with this phone. We have had no customer service issues at all. Call quality is crystal clear and excellent. No dropped calls. The screen is perfect and the slider pullout QWERTY keyboard makes life much easier when doing text, emails, etc. International text is free....anywhere in the world. Just put 011 before the country code and number and it will get there, if the party in the other country has text on their phone. I have used that several times and sure beats a phone call that costs you. You have a choice of using the screen or the keyboard. It has a capacitive screen (like the apple products) so I went online and ordered 5 round rubber tip (to simulate your fingers) stylus pens for $5.00 for the 5 including free shipping, and it helps my big fingers and speeds up the process. Straight Talk phones that are marked on the box CDMA will have coverage under the Verizon towers network. Phones like the Android...both the Samsung and LG models will have CDMA-S on the box are covered under the Sprint towers network. Right now service on the Android is pretty much limited to major cities , major airports and major interstates throughout the US. By the end of next year there should be coverage just about everywhere according to their news releases. I also picked up an inexpensive backup $30 straight talk CDMA phone that will cover us under the Verizon network should we be in an area that has sketchy Sprint service. All it takes is a quick phone call to Straight Talk to switch your number to the backup phone... and the plan carries over to the backup phone and leave it that way until you get back to your home area that provides the best service. No charge to switch back and forth as needed....without losing your minutes or time remaining under your $45 card. We are in the Jacksonville, FL metro area.
Gets better service than my work phone that has a service contract.
It works on the sprint network in Puerto Rico, so far so great.
I purchased this phone because the website said it would work in my zip code (58801). But it does not. It would need to be programed in an area that offers Sprint. Because my area does not offer Sprint, I would have had to travel to an area that does just in order to get the phone to work, then I would be roaming. From playing with the phone, it offers great apps and was easy to use. Wish I would have been able to actually make calls on it....
my husband and i were looking for a phone we would like. really looking forward to getting away from the company we have our cell service threw. we came across the LG55 Android smartphone and fell in love with it. we were really excited to see that the site said it would work in our area. I had talked to our stores connection center and asked for advice and was told to make sure it had the letters CDMA on the box and that i needed to be sure it said it would work in our area. so i went back to walmart.com and looked at everything i could to make sure it would work. seeing the letters CDMA in the lower left hand corner of the package and with the site saying it would work in our area, we ordered 2 of these phones. i anxiously waited and watched the tracking on the phones and was at site to store to pick them up the second they arrived at the store. so very excited to have the phones in hand i immediately went to the connection center with them to activate them and transfer numbers to them only to find out that they do not work in our area. (TOTAL LET DOWN) I wanted to cry! i spent $90 to buy the two cards needed to activate the phones, which by the way are non refundable! Thank goodness we have an amazing team of managers that understand how things like this happen, and went ahead and refunded me the money spent on the phone cards (store takes a loss). from looking at the phones and playing with them a bit, the phones are well built and seem like they would be easy to use. one thing we did notice however is that the model number on the phone we ordered did not match the phone we received and the phone we received said on the package that is was the optimus q which tells us on walmart .com that that phone dont work in our area. but on the back of the package just above the bar code it said it is a lg l55c. the reasoning i was given as to why this phone does not work in our area, is because we do not have sprint towers in our area. apparently the LG 55 Android is the same as the Optimus Q and is a sprint phone only.. verizon towers do not work with this phone. even still we are very disappointed because we really like the phones.
I'm going to let you know... if one Android phone won't work in your area, none of them will. This says it will work in my zip code 74346 but it won't. It's the same as the Optimus Phone. I like the phone and the features. I tried and tried to get them to transfer my old straight talk number to this new phone and after 2 days and countless hours of being on the phone with customer service it still didn't work. Don't waste your time. If you don't have sprint towers, don't do it. If you aren't sure then call customer service and they will be able to tell you. I spent a lot of money on this phone and bought a warranty through walmart. Luckily there is a 15 day return policy for phones at walmart so I got a full refund but if I would have went over the 15 days... I would have been stuck with the phone. Hope this helps.
Beware buyers Wal-Marts website says this Android phone will work in 12953 area code ! It does not !!!
