It runs smooth and it's easy to thread. I'm having a lot of fun using my serger. Thanks CT.
I purchased this serger to use along with my 15 year old basic sewing machine. I am recently retired and thought it would be nice to make craft items to supplement my income. I didn't expect this serger to be as simple as opening the box, turning the machine on, and start sewing. It truly is that simple!! I had some trouble with threading it the first few times but after several attempts it became easy and I don't hesitate to change out different colors of thread throughout the day. The machine dials are all color coded to help with the threading process. I love my serger and I use it almost daily! I purchased at Walmart online because it was the best price out there! And it was delivered within a few days along with free shipping!!!
I really love this serger!! It is easy to use and to thread. I also own another serger that cost a few thousand, which is currently getting repaired. I purchased this one just to use while my other one is being repaired. I like this one so much, that I may get a second one!! Sews like a dream through thick and thin fabrics, and uses standard sewing machine needles.
I wanted a serger mostly to sew stretch and thin fabrics like jersey blouses, lingerie and also to help me hem sheer lightweight fabrics for scarves. I have had this machine for 3 weeks. This serger is hassle free when it comes to tension. Very easy to adjust tension and basically all I had to do was play with the differential feed. These are the things I have made since I got it: 1)A pair of denim pants - I used 4 thread overlock stitch to finish al the inside seams. 2)A thin jersey nightgown – all sewn with 3 thread overlock stitch and hemmed with rolled hem making a lettuce edge. 3)I hemmed a sheer lightweight scarf using the rolled hem. Perfect!! 4)A serger scrap bag – I finished the inside seams with 3 thread overlock stitch and I used 2 variegated threads in the upper looper to sew the scrap bag pockets together. 5)A sewing basket liner - I used the rolled hem on cotton to hem the ruffles of the liner and I also finished all the inside seams with a 3 thread. This Serger goes from denim to lightweight fabric with no problem at all. It comes with 2 Cds with videos to watch on the computer. One Cd is instructional, on how to use the serger. The other one has special techniques. Both are very helpful. It also has a booklet with all the settings for the special techniques. I do suggest getting a few books from your local library or buying a few. It can be of a great help if you can’t take classes. This Serger also comes with an extra pressure foot but I have used mostly the blindhem one with the guide. I did test the gathering foot and it helps when sewing 2 fabrics together or to insert ribbon on the edge. Most people complain about the threading process with sergers in general. Threading a serger is and will always be a more complex process than threading a sewing machine. But I learned quickly to thread this one. The lower looper has kind of a hook (I guess it is what they call threader) and it helps to thread it. I got dental floss to help me get the thread in the holes and it is a piece of cake now. The learning curve is just a bit longer than learning how to use a sewing machine. Threading this machine is hassle free. I like that the foot controller (pedal). It allows me to go slowly or fast. This can be very helpful when sewing slippery fabrics, curves or corners. It is very easy to remove the stitch finger to make the rolled hem and easy to put it back. You don’t even need to re-thread the machine. This machine comes with a trim trap but I didn’t like it because it has to be removed to open the door. The trim trap gets on the door way and it is also small. That’s why I made a scrap bag with pockets so I can also store the accessories I need to operate the machine. The knobs to adjust the stitch length and width are a bit hard and uncomfortable to turn, mainly if you just want to tweak it. I would have preferred it they were dials instead. But no big deal here. The light is fine. This serger has suction cups on the bottom so the machine doesn’t move on the table. It is pretty steady and it doesn’t vibrate much. I like that it is lightweight and that it has a handle to carry it. I also like that it came with a plastic cover. I didn’t rate durability because I have had it for a short time but overall it is a wonderful machine for an excellent price. It sews all kind of fabrics with no tension problems. I am very happy with it!
I bought this machine at Walmart a few years ago, and I love it. I use it for piecing my quilts together, and it works perfectly even sewing thru layers of fabrics, and quilt batting. I like to do a lot of quilt as you go projects, and this machine is perfect for doing those projects.
" I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Holiday Sewing Contest." This was the first "serger" that I ever purchased. I was a little intimidated about it at first. After a few times of threading it with the manual, you will become a pro on it! Once you get the hang of it you will LOVE this machine!!... In very little time I was making professional looking clothing for my daughter!
Very easy to thread. Of course I simply tie new thread to old thread and pull thru in correct order while holding tension release button. Thread trap is a must and so glad this model includes it free of charge. Arrived packaged very securely, promptly and undamaged. Includes a full manual which is surprising but greatly appreciated. It actually comes with two books/manuals with multiple languages included. Sound is reasonable, light is super bright. This model was super easy to set up, thread and use. If you're wavering on which type of serger to purchase, you won't regret this one. Includes all the extra components you expect and want! Whether it's your first or a replacement serger, this model is terrific.
I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Sewing Contest. As a sewing enthusiast, I always wanted a serger to have a good professional finish to things that I sew, especially if I'm giving them away as gifts. Since I have never used a serger before, I wanted a machine that is easy to learn and thread. I love my first serger. I made pillows, Halloween decor items, bags, and I'm going to make many more with its great speed of up to 1300 stitches per minute, saving me time and effort. Pros: - The package came with everything that I would need to start my first project. It included two CDs to guide me the first few days, printed manual, snap-on feet (two additional feet, one for a blind hem and another for gathering ruffles), 4 small spools of threads, and accessory bag with needle set, 4 spool nets, tweezers, cleaning brush, hexl wrench, trim trap - I can use home sewing machine needles. I don't have to have two different sets of needles for my sewing machine and this serger - It has plain and decorative stitches. Easy to use them on fleece, flannel, cotton, polyester, linen, and more. - 3 or 4-thread cut-and-sew stitches options made it easy to cut and sew. I use both 3 and 4 threads; they turned out great (the picture is a pillow that I sewn using 3-thread stitches.) - The completely color-coded and numbered upper and lower looper threading made it easy to thread. Easy for beginners and experienced professional. - Can use regular thread spools and cone threads. - Differential feed makes it easy to sew any thickness of fabric. - Easy to disable the knife (if you don't want to cut as you sew) Cons - The CDs are not compatible with Macs. They were produced a very long time ago and the quality isn't good. The size of the video is small and it's hard to see the details. However, you can access it on Youtube, which I'd recommend. This CD or video will help you get started - It does not do coverlock stitch (stretchy stitch with two straight lines on the front of the fabric). However, you can do this on a regular sewing machine with a twin needle. - It does not do chain stitch (a semi-straight stitch), but it does do a good reinforcement
The serger was shipped upside down in the Walmart box that clearly had "this end up" markers. This made the pre-threading a bit of a moot point as there was much tangling. I was able to work it out and there doesn't appear to be any damage to the machine itself. From preliminary testing, the serger seems to be running fine. I'm excited to have the machine!
The machine kept unthreading. Why would i want a machine that is brand new to give me so many issues. I brought into walmart in person to return(i bought online). They could not issue a return since its a third-party seller. I was told i have to wait for the 3rd party to issue my return. i shipped back on April 9th. Today is April 21st, and they still have not returned my money. Buyer beware....dont do it. honestly go to a brother store a buy from there.
