This worked perfectly for my 2011 CVPI. There is another kit that says it works for the newer model year Crown Victorias, but it did not have the correct connector for my car, or my friend's 2007. I guess the Police Interceptors use older connectors.
I bought the FDK106 wire connector for my 1998 Ford ranger. I was going from a double din stock radio/cassette player to a new single den radio. I removed the old radio and matched up the new FDK106 plug to the wire that was unplugged from the radio I removed. My Ranger used the white connector. I matched up all wires from the connector with the wires from the new radio and soldered them together. I then covered each connection with electrical tape. Then I wrapped the whole soldered bundle with tape. I had two wires from the white connector that were not used. One was Black/white strip and the other I can't remember what color it was. I taped the end of them. There were several more wires that weren't used but they came out of the other connectors and were not linked to the white connector and they did not need to be taped. Extra info about installing single din radio into a1998 Ranger. I used the FD2080 kit for my 1998 Ford Ranger. I installed a single din radio where a double din factory radio/cassette player was. I used mounting panel #6604. I left all "A" tabs and side tabs attached as it says in the instructions. I cut off the end of tabs "B" and "C". On the bottom of the panel I suggest only removing the hook part of the tabs on the tab that covers the hole in the bottom of the storage opening. I secured the sleeve from my new radio to the 6604 panel. Then I slid my new radio into the sleeve. Then I connected the FDK106 soldered bundle to the proper plug ins. I hooked up the antenna to the new radio and snapped the panel with the radio already installed in it into the opening. It fit and held perfectly. Note: I did not use the slide bracket in the back because my new radio was very light and it didn't need it.
Was exactly what I needed to install my new aftermarket stereo in my truck without having to damage my original wiring harness. I can reinstall original equipment with no problem when I decide to get rid of the vehicle.
I wish that I was told that for a ford you have 2 different plugs u have to have!!!!
Sooooo this works. But d*mn there's a lot going on here. I needed this to put a new aftermarket HU into a 2001 Ford Expedition with Mach Audio. I didn't use the subwoofer amp plug, the older style power plug, or the CD changer plug since the owner is upgrading and isn't using the stock setup. Was easy to figure out the correct plug with power
This stereo connector is designed to work for many different cars. Turned out it also worked for mine (although my car is not listed as compatible). Care is needed when plugging in the connectors as the connector plugs are not as strong as OEM, I had to push one of the contacts back into the plastic plug but with this extra effort it works fine. Color code of wires matched the code for my replacement radio and the external amplifier worked fine with the radio once all the wires were connected. This made installation a snap. Walmart.com said the connector would be available at my local store in less than 4 hours and they kept that promise. When completed, the installation looked clean and I'm sure I will have fewer issues than if I tried to splice all the wires directly into the car's wire harness. Overall, great value, convenient, met expectations, but I do wish the connectors were a little stronger.
Package says for "Premium Sound". Well that includes steering wheel button controls, but this connector doesn't have any wiring for that. The package should say Just Radio power and speaker connections, with amplifier power on wiring, power antennae wiring. If you want Premium car stereo connections, you need to buy an Interface controller box. $60-80. Then this connector becomes not required.
does not fit 97 to 2002 Ford products with deluxe sound system. contrary to what the description with Walmart said it does not work. you must rewire everything
I have the mach 460 sound system and this was suppose to work with it. Having buying and hooking up it hahas no sound. You have to buy another $40 piece. To make it work. Waste of money. Ican buy the right peice for 15 on amazon.
I purchase this item to install my new stereo in my car. After connecting all the cables I have no sound in one side of the car so I thought I did something wrong. I play with the connections and try again, no luck. After 15 minutes I found out the connector itself was causing the problem. I was not able to fix the connector and at this point too late to return it after saddening all the cables so I need to put the hold thing in the trash. Poor quality not recommended and not worth the $10 cost . I went to Best Buy and I purchase one for double of the price but work at 1st try.
