We bought these tires for our 2003 Pontiac Vibe, We had Walmart install them while we shopped, and had a bite at the Subway in the store, while we waited. The tires handle great on wet & dry road surfaces. I did a little online shopping at the Discount Tire and Belle Tire online websites, and found these tires at Walmart to be the best tire for the money. These tires have a high speed rating and a 60,000 mile tread life warranty. I work for a local municipality, and replace tires on vehicles daily, so I know a good tire value, when I see one.
I decided to write this review during the snowstorm feb 2013. Because these tires earned it! because i wanted everybody know how great these tires are! I deliver pizza everyday no matter if it is snowing, raining or if there is hurricanes or blizzards! Everyday, i drive my car minimum 150 miles. Last year i put 50K miles on my car. I purchased 4 set of these tires in august 2012. I have been using these tires more than over 20K miles. There is not really a serious wear on them. it says 60K tread life, but i believe they will go to 80K. What i want to say is these tires are good in summer for sure. they are also good in fall. The thing is they are almost like snow-tires in winter. There is 2 feet snow out there but these tires working more than "just fine"! Technically there is no such thing as "4 seasons tires". I know it is a marketing strategy. Only explanation i have why these tires very good on snow is they must have been made as snow-tires. Price is surprising. It make you feel like "they can not be good" but they are. I remember thinking "what is wrong with this tire?" but nothing is wrong. I see lot of people buying unknown brands for over $80 and i don't understand why! Don't hesitate even a second. Buy it. as long as i drive that's what i will do.
I finally found the right all season tire. I put these on my Honda CR-V 4WD. Excellent handling in snow! We got caught up in a snow storm and these tires handled at least 3" of snow. They offer a very quiet ride and I purchased the road hazard from Wal-mart. Excellent service, free tire rotation too. I am buying my next pair for my other car.
My 10 year old sears guardsman tires still had 50% tread but they made lots of road noise. ( hard due to age? ). So for my Honda civic I had to go one size over as the correct size was not offered. Honda speedometers are actually more accurate with over sized tires, so it is a win win. The tires are quiet. That was what I wanted. I waited until we had snow to do the review and these goodyear viva 2 tires are good enough. My Kumho Solix Expert are a little better in the snow and ice but not alarmingly better. I know this because I replaced 2 of the old sears tires last year. I did not go with the Kumho tires for the 2nd pair because they are one size UNDER stock. I would prefer to go one over. So, I recommend these Viva's as they were the least expensive tires for my car with a name I trusted. I have run more Goodyears than any other tire. I have 5,000 on them. maybe I will add to this review when I have 30,000 miles.
Size P185/65R14 for my 2002 Saturn SL1. These tires made my car feel new again. Happy with the price thinking I got them for a bargain. They are mud and snow rated but they ride, handle and feel like an all season tire. They have a strong sidewall what I like in a tire where I strongly believe a stronger sidewall improves performance and handling such as holding a curve at high speed. Not much tire selection in this size but I tend to think I got the best they got. A little unhappy about the mfg. date on the tires of the 34th week of 2011, they have been sitting on the shelf for 3 years and tires do deteriorate and dry rot with age even when new. There's a date stamped on every tire where the DOT marking is, mine is DOT 3411 meaning they were made in the 34th week of 2011. To be fair I figure not many newer cars use my size so my size doesn't sell that fast.
Don't believe the product description. These tires are definitely NOT quiet - they are probably the NOISIEST tires that I have ever owned! They have a high-pitched whine that increases with speed. The noise level seems to have diminished after several thousand miles but is still there - it is a function of the block-style tread pattern. I have had no problems in the four years that they have been on the car and they seem to work well, good traction and smooth ride - but they are VERY NOISY !
I bought a pair of these tires to replace Nexen 7000 and I am completely disappointed. Not only are these noisy, but they offer the least traction of any tire I have ever had. As soon as they were installed I noticed a vibration between 50-60mph. I had them rebalanced at a different Tire store, but to no avail. I also noticed a drop in fuel mileage by 2.5 mpg. I can't in good conscience recommend these tires to anyone. They are just a waste of money.
I was told yesterday that I needed to replace my front tires due to low tread. I only have 23,000 miles on these 60.000 mile tires. I am very disappointed in these tires. Guess I expected at least 50k on a 60k tread wear warranty instead of half that.
First and foremost, you get what you pay for. I thought that Goodyear tires were good tires. Great brand name, good reputation. Apparently my first sentence is more accurate than my second. As it turns out these tires are made only for Walmart, who would have known. As a former mechanic I understand a little about tire wear. What causes what... low tire pressure, alignment issues and a few other things can mess with your tires. That being said, none of these issues pertain to my car, a small reliable Saturn, completely stock and far too slow to race. At first I was happy, they did well reasonably well in the snow and rain. Then about mile 8000 on these tires they seemed to wearing rather fast for a 60K mile limited wear tire. By mile 15K and month number 10 the edges were completely worn out and the wire cording was showing, both the inside and outside of the tires. Tomorrow I take them in to have them looked at.... lets see what they do.
I bought these tires a year and one month ago today. Only put 24,000 miles on them and they are bald already. Bought a road hazard warranty. Glad I kept the receipt in a safe place because the shop only had proof of tires purchase only. They would pro-rate the tires but found out it wouldn't be worth the money. I had them rotated regularly because it's free with the tire purchase. Kept the tires alignment up to date. I did not get anywhere near 60,000 miles. I learned my lesson buying cheap tires.
