First I have to thank Walmart Customer Service who assisted me when my order was not delivered in the 2-Day time frame. The Pixel Buds have such a polished design. The sound is not the best but far from the worst. The design and comfort make up for any lingering issues.s
The functionality of the headphones (ie: Google Assistant, Swipe and Tap Gestures, Proximity Sensor for Auto Pause and Play, Google Assistant Usage) are very nice. I enjoy them very much personally. The audio the best way I have heard it described is.. Balanced. No deep bass, good for acoustics and voice. Lets you hear instruments spaced out in a sense. The "Thorn" was uncomfortable for a while but doing better adjustments when inserting then, or maybe just the rubber bit forming to shape after a while, didn't irritated my ear.
Over the past year I've spent a lot of time with a lot of wireless earbuds, including the first and second gen Galaxy buds, the new Galaxy buds live, the Sony WF wireless, and now these. I love wireless buds. No matter how expensive the earbuds you buy are, it always seems that they miss something glaring. On all of the previous wireless earbuds I've had experience with, they all have almost inexcusable Google Assistant incorporation with no ability to control the volume of the assistant while it makes your ears bleed. Also, they're all way too loud during phone calls even on the lowest volume. From a functionality standpoint this was all inexcusable to me. Not to mention the Galaxy buds live have awful connectivity, especially when you put your phone in your pocket and go for a walk while on a phone call. None of those problems exist with the pixel buds. If you use the Google Assistant in any capacity, these make it even easier. Replying to text messages and hearing your notifications is enjoyable and actually helpful, plus you can adjust the volume of the assistant so it doesn't make your ears bleed the entire time. Amazing! The audio quality is wonderful and you can even increase the base so they sound just like all of the others. Otherwise, they have a neutral delivery with clarity across the spectrum. Additionally, you have the ability to control the volume of a phone call with much more fidelity than any of my previous buds that I've worn. Why this doesn't exist elsewhere is beyond me, but all you need to know is the pixel buds have it. These don't have active noise canceling and they don't have it for a good reason. The whole point of these earbuds is to have a comfortable bud that doesn't plug your ears up. The bottom of the buds has a little opening to allow some sound and air pass through. Their miles more comfortable than the first and second generation Galaxy bud and I would say they're on par with the Galaxy buds live, and they leave the Sony WF series in the dust. So if you think not having active noise cancellation is a reason not to get these, you may be right, but they might just not be what you're looking for. Overall I sincerely recommend these to anybody who cares about fit and finish. The battery life is excellent, the construction is top-notch, and they just work. At the end of the day, I'll be running these for a long time because of that. They just work.
Walmart delivered almost 3 weeks faster than anyone else. Even google them selves. Addressed store pickup issues immediately and made it painless. Work as described by google themselves.
The mechanical charging port fit is very sloppy and loose and within a week was difficult to charge. 3 weeks of this and now it can only be charged wirelessly. The silicone ear piece came off in my sons ear and it took several minutes to extract using tweezers. Gorilla glue these in place.
The good: Compact. Pairs quickly. Good crisp audio. Great mic. Touch controls simple and effective. Snug fit—won't fall out, even when taking off a tight shirt. Charges quickly (and wirelessly). The bad: Priced about $30 too high. Decent but probably not enough bass for those who listen to bass-heavy tunes. Battery life is short compared to other wireless headphones.
Great wireless earphones with a very nice looking case, it fits perfectly in my ear and it's so light sometimes I forget I'm wearing them. The touch controls on the side are very responsive and accurate. The sound is crisp and clear and it's great for calls and meetings. Integrates seamlessly with my Pixel 4XL The only issue is that the buds lose charge slightly at different charges. Which should be fixed with firmware updates
I love how small the charging case is. It goes right in your pocket. Sound quality is great for the most part. Google Assistant could use some work as it has terrible understanding sometimes. It also gets hard for someone to hear me sometimes as if it mutes my voice. I do love the noise reduction and sometimes use them with my windows down or the radio a little loud.
Great design and concept, but extremely disappointing performance. The sound quality isn't great -- it was better in the first version of the buds -- and worst of all, the headphones cutout/drop out regularly. Annoying when stationary, totally useless when exercising outdoors. Just Google the connectivity issues with these, and you'll see that I'm not just an outlier. I don't recommend these to anyone.
Wanted to love these. I'm pretty firmly in the Google ecosystem (Pixel 4, Google Home, etc). The touch controls were nice, and the design was fine. I liked the setting controls on android. However, the cutouts were terrible. There was no reason for it to happen. I would be sitting down with my phone directly in front of me and suddenly the sound would cut out. I followed online support, hard reset the buds, restarted my phone, reconnected the buds, etc. It would help for a while but then it would start again. The minimum for any earphones is that they actually have to play sound reliably. Pixel buds didn't. I had to return.
